Online Autodesk training…

Through BCIT Library you now have access to the Autodesk library of courses from Global e-Training.
The 214 courses cover:

  • AutoCAD
  • Autodesk BIM
  • Inventor
  • Revit
  • 3dsMax
  • and more

These courses can be accessed from labs on campus (https://www.globaletraining.net/#/courses)  or from home.
To access from  home you will need the Onelog client. Instructions on how to install Onelog can be found here:
https://libguides.bcit.ca/techtips  – go to the tab Accessing Online Resources, within the box Managed Resources halfway down the page.
Note: there is a maximum of 25 concurrent users allowed at one time.
Access to the courses is through a generic BCIT password and individual progress is not tracked.

Peer Tutor Tuesdays with William Han

What attracted you to becoming a Peer Tutor?
The reasons why I became a peer tutor are to have work experience in Canada, share my learning skills, and improve my verbal ability.

How has tutoring helped you?
I learned some natural expressions in English from writing tutors.

If you could give one piece of advice to a BCIT student what would it be?
Never drop a course.

What would your dream job be when you leave BCIT?
My dream job is to become a Communication Protections and Control Technologist.

If you had a free day, how would you spend it?
I would go hiking with my family and immerse myself in chilly water.

Peer Tutor Tuesdays with Brett Choi

What attracted you to becoming a Peer Tutor?
I want to pass along the knowledge and experience I gained in my first year. It also looks good on my resume.

How has tutoring helped you?
Any misunderstandings I had from lectures were often clarified by tutors.

If you could give one piece of advice to a BCIT student what would it be?
Time management skills should be practiced a lot to succeed.

What would your dream job be when you leave BCIT?
To work at a company that has a really good team-working environment, as well as friendly.

If you had a free day, how would you spend it?
Catch up on life responsibilities that have been put to the side because of school.

Program: Operations Management (OPMT)

What attracted you to becoming a Peer Tutor?
I would like to help my fellow peers in areas which I am comfortable in tutoring so they will feel less stressed about school.

How has tutoring helped you?
I want to gain more experience in talking and communicating with people. I believe if I can be a good tutor then not only can I get a sense of accomplishment, but I can help others as well.

If you could give one piece of advice to a BCIT student what would it be?
Time management is very important to me. This advice was given to me by the previous year’s tutors as well as with BCIT’s intensive timetable. It is very important to manage tasks and homework well to succeed.

What would your dream job be when you leave BCIT?
I want to be a consultant in the operations field.

If you had a free day, how would you  spend it?
I would spend it with my family and friends.

Peer Tutor Tuesdays with Catherine Vasseur

Program:   FMGT – Financial Planning

What attracted you to becoming a Peer Tutor?
First of all, it seems very convenient to work on campus. Secondly, I believe I can actually make a difference in other student’s life by improving their experience/education at BCIT.

If you could give one piece of advice to a BCIT student what would it be?
Use your planner! BCIT will keep you very busy. Staying organized will make the ride smooth.

What would your dream job be when you leave BCIT?
It would be to work for an investment firm. I would have my own office, the warm kind for my clients. I would also get to decide on my schedule. I would have lots of independence.

If you had a free day, how would you spend it?
I would start by cooking a royal breakfast and then play video games. I would also make sure to keep some time for a nap or two with my kitten.
