As part of its Passivhaus strategy for transforming building NE1, the Factor Four team has collaborated with various internal partners and the Canadian Passivhaus Institute to offer for the first time in BC a 5-day Passivhaus Trades Training course.
The first delivery of the course will be from October 30th to November 7th. The newly built lab mock-ups will be housed in the vicinity of the Factor Four area.
This 3-day (up to 5 days) course provides the knowledge and practical skills building contractors need to build to the world’s most efficient energy standard. This course focuses on building enclosure optimization, and provides a foundation in passive house principles, while stressing the importance of construction fundamentals and proper sequencing. Participants will learn building techniques that minimize thermal bridging, maximize airtightness, while using a variety of materials. An introduction to common passive house mechanical systems will be provided, including heat and energy recovery ventilators, heat pumps, and solar thermal.
The inaugural training was a huge success with 15 students registered. A big thank you goes to the organizers, CanPHI, the instructors and of course, the students. Check-out some photos from the training lab:
