Restoration

The Factor Four area is more than just energy and material reductions. In order to achieve a 75% reduction in energy and material throughput, the Factor Four initiative is encouraging a sense of place as well as ecological restoration. These efforts are spearheaded by two groups.

Urban Restoration:

The Eco-Streets group is focusing on Urban Renewal; changing the look and feel of the area and increasing walkability. This group is comprised of staff and faculty from a variety of departments and programs.

Ecological Restoration:

The Ecological Restoration group focuses on the daylighting of Guichon Creek, and creating a functional aquatic ecosystem. This group is spearheaded by the BCIT River’s Institute and programs such as the Fish, Wildlife and Recreation and Ecological Restoration.
