New Doors on the Trades Buildings

June 8, 2016 by Sarah Campbell Leave a Comment

Facilities and Campus Development brightened up Smith Street with three new doors. New garage doors have been added to Building NE2 (Joinery), NE4 (Carpentry) and NE 8 (Piping).  Campus Development worked with a suggestion made by students from our Interior Design program. These students were asked what would improve the look of Factor Four, and presented their proposals to faculty and staff involved in the area. Staff from Campus Development (department in charge of campus planning and design) were in attendance when the students presented.  The students suggested enhancing these doors by adding colour and windows to create a Granville Island vibe. These doors allow in natural light, reducing the artificial lighting needed within the shops and highlight the work our students are doing within the shops. People passing by on the pedestrian walkway are encouraged to look through the windows and see our students at work.
