Metal Fabrication Students Help Other Departments

June 8, 2016 by Sarah Campbell Leave a Comment

Usually when a Metal Fabrication foundation class learns new techniques they create a few projects that wind up as scrap metal, but for the 11 students in the recent ACE IT class their projects are going to help four other departments. As part of learning the basic techniques they built frames for the Center of Architectural Ecology’s living walls, 8 new tables for Piping, a platform for the Marine Fitter program, and re-shaped the hopper that will be part of the Biomass project. The students liked knowing that their projects were going to help other department, and found the variety of projects each had their own challenges.
