Creating the Fish Designs for Guichon Alley

June 6, 2016 by Sarah Campbell Leave a Comment

The final design element in Guichon Alley was to add metal fish as decoration along the front of the planters. Created by Metal Fabrication, these metal fish celebrate the goal of one day seeing real salmon on our campus. Additionally, creating them from metal acknowledges the departments that surround Guichon Alley and work with metal, such as Metal Fabrication, Boilermaking, Ironworking, Piping and Welding. The fish are made from stainless steel, for longevity, and were cut on a plasma cutter by the Metal Fabrication department. This machine allows designs to be created in CADD and then cut on the table.
