New Lights in Guichon Alley

January 6, 2016 by Sarah Campbell Leave a Comment

Electrical students and Facilities and Campus Development worked together to change the main lights in Guichon Alley to LED’s and add some additional decorative lighting. The lighting type is consistent with the overall campus lighting plan. This project engaged Electrical students in a Living Lab project on Campus, as they installed the decorative lighting.

By switching the existing lights in the Alley to LED and using LED lights for the decorative fixtures, the Factor Four does not increase the energy consumption. The lights are on a timer and can be adjusted seasonally to only provide light between dusk and dawn. The lights enhance the look and feel of the space after dark, making Guichon Alley more pedestrian friendly.
