New Student Built Workstations in Welding

August 26, 2013 by Sarah Campbell Leave a Comment

It is not just the ventilation system that is getting upgraded in the welding shop. The grinding room is also being improved, including the addition of some new, student built, work stations.

IMG_4193As part the upgrade, the Welding department was able to replace four grinding tables in addition to purchasing six new tables. “We have a limited budget for upgrading the ventilation in the grinding room and a few grinding tables were in dire need of replacement. Thankfully some of Moe’s students finishing up their fabrication course and volunteered to build four stations for us” says Chief Instructor of Welding Dave Helman. The welding department worked with Mohinder Soomel, an instructor in Metal Fabrication, to design and plan the new tables.

The grinding room will also have two new extraction units, which will increase capacity and almost double the number of students that can work in the grinding room.
