Why Are The Canucks Winning?

The Vancouver Canucks beat the Ottawa Senators last night extending their win streak to four games. The Canucks are fresh off of wins against the Ducks, Predators, and Maple Leafs and their win against Ottawa tonight gives real hope for the future of the team. However, fans have gone from upset Canucks are losing to upset that the Canucks are finally winning.

Why have Canucks fans made the sudden change?

At the start of the year fans were hoping that the Canucks would win as it was a fresh start to the season. However after the teams terrible start to the year fans quickly gave up hope and switched from wanting the team to win, to wanting them to do poorly so that they get a higher draft pick come the end of the year. This draft is significantly more important then previous years as well, as top prospect Connor Bedard is on the table and every team is looking to snatch him up.

The Canucks had a really good chance at getting the number one pick this year, but after their recent win streak, and 7-3 record in the last ten games, it’s unlikely that the team can secure the number one draft pick anymore.

Hence why Canucks fans aren’t so happy with the teams late push at some wins. Let’s hope the Canucks can go back to what they do best soon-losing.

Canadian F1 Team Is Set To Destroy The Competition!

Canadian owned Formula One (F1) team Aston Martin looks to be on track for a phenomenal season this year. The team scored second place in first practice, first place in second practice and third and sixth place in the first race of the season last week in Bahrain. Now it has been revealed that Aston Martin has a significant advantage in wind tunnel time which should only improve their performance as the season goes on!

https://www.instagram.com/p/CpmrJQ1MrWL/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Aston Martin is a Canadian owned F1 team and was formally known as Racing Point in 2020. The car was fast that year scoring pole position and even a race win throughout the season. The team ended up finishing fourth place for the season. However, when the team changed over to Aston Martin they’re speed significantly decreased and the team dropped to seventh place for the past two years in the Constructors Championship.

The team was smart though and used those two years to invest money into their 2023 car. With the changes they’ve made to the car they’re seeing massive improvements in their overall speed, lap times, and finishing positions!

With Fernando Alonso’s third place podium last week, he secured the highest result the team has seen in the past two years and Aston Martin currently sits second in the Constructors Championship.

Now it has been revealed that Aston Martin has significantly more wind tunnel time then their competitors which will only increase their performance as the season goes on. The wind tunnel is a tool that teams use to see how their car will preform during races. However, this tool is limited and lots of teams have used the majority of their time so far.

Things are looking good for the Canadian team! Let’s hope they can keep the momentum rolling and secure solid rankings in the Drivers and Constructors Championship throughout the course of the year!

George Returns!

The Detroit Red Wings showed love to a young fan the other night… at the expense of the Vancouver Canucks. Now George has returned to the game and fans are ecstatic about it!

During the Canucks lopsided defeat to Detroit on the road the game was paused due to the Red Wings net coming loose.

This left the fans waiting for some action and entertainment. The Detroit Red Wings camera crew delivered.

The camera crew found a young boy to focus on with a sign behind him reading; “it’s my first game- George”.

The crowd in attendance erupted for George, giving the camera crew a great idea. They quickly switched to a shot of Canucks fans in attendance and the whole crowd started to boo. The Canucks fans laughed it off and the camera crew switched back to George. Once again the arena erupted, this time even louder then before. Then quickly the crew switched back to different Canucks fans and the arena was quick to boo once more.

This continued for the next several minutes until the on ice action was ready to resume.

You could tell George was a little shy at first but eventually he opened up and had a huge smile on his face.

Now George has returned to his second NHL game and fans are just as happy about it.

The NHL posted a video earlier today of a look alike camera that took place at the Red Wings game. They posted George up on the screen and then the look alike camera panned over to George!

George was as shy as ever but it was nice to see him back at the game again.

Cody Comes To Sami’s Aid!

Canadian World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler Sami Zayn is looking to finally take the Bloodline down once and for all. To do so though he’ll need some help. Help is what Sami got on Friday night Smackdown when title contender and Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes came to Sami’s aid and launched an attack against the Uso’s.

Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and now Cody a Rhodes have been in a long back and forth feud with the Bloodline faction.

The feud reached its boiling point on Monday night though when Jey Uso finally revealed where he stood in the situation.

Sami Zayn was set to face off against Jey Uso’s brother Jimmy on Monday Night RAW this week. After weeks of deliberation Jey came out to the ring during the match and joined forces with Sami Zayn against his brother and the rest of the Bloodline.

Fans were ecstatic and the whole crowd started to chant and cheer for Jey and Sami. However, it was all an act and Jey turned on Sami seconds later, delivering a devastating super kick to him. Jey then got in Sami Zayns face and started to yell and taunt him. The Uso’s then launched an attack on Sami Zayn until Cody Rhodes came to Sami’s rescue. Cody has a match scheduled with the Bloodline leader, and Tribal Chief Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania, making this feud personal for him as well.

On Friday Night Smackdown Sami and Cody decided to take their revenge from Monday Night RAW.

The pair attacked the USO’s and chased them out of the ring and continued to fight all throughout the stands. Then Cody and Sami  brought the action back to the ring where they hit their finishers on the Uso’s and stood triumphantly in the ring.

Fans are speculating that this storyline is leading to a three versus three match in the coming weeks between the Bloodline and Sami, Owens, and Cody. Time will tell if it’s finally time for the Bloodline to fall to these rising stars.

Canadian Journalist Shares His Thoughts On Jon Jones Return!

Ariel Helwani shared his thoughts on Jon Jones return at Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 285!

Ariel Helwani is a Canadian born combat sports journalist. In his two decades of experience he’s covered promotions like UFC, Bellator, Pride, and many more. His large popularity in the sport is due to his hard hitting questions, and professionalism he brings to every interview. He is without a doubt the face of combat sports journalism.

These reasons are why Ariel Helwanis thoughts and words about Jon Jones return to the cage hold so much weight. Ariel has seen Jon Jones entire career unfold, highs and lows.  Jons highs mostly came in the octagon where he dominated the competition from the get-go. However, Jon suffered massive lows outside of the cage, including D.U.I’s, abuse charges, failed drug tests, and more. This weekend was different for Jones though as he seemed more mature the entire time leading up to the fight. Ariel shared that he was blown away by Jon Jones not just in the fight but the whole week leading up the fight as well:

“I was blown away by Jon Jones. Blown away by him. And I wasn’t just blown away by the two and a half, three minutes that was saw from him in the cage… I was blown away by him all week! All week Jon Jones felt comfortable, felt happy, felt stress free, felt motivated, like he played the whole week perfectly! Seemed to embrace the whole thing, wasn’t at odds with the UFC, wasn’t at odds with Dana White. Was happy at the press conference, was happy interacting with the people. He was on fire. He was fantastic.”

This is a large change for Jones as his fight weeks are usually riddled with drama and controversy. Ariel, myself, and fans are happy that we finally are getting to see what a happy, healthy, and fit Jon Jones can accomplish in the octagon.

Jones dominated Ciryl Gane in his return to the cage and called out heavyweight greatest of all time (Goat) Stipe Miocic. The two have a fight lined up for early summer.

Canucks VS Maple Leafs Street Fight!

The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday night in a dominant victory! However, the action continued after the game when fans of both teams got into a brawl on Granville Street!

The first period of the game started out with some back and forth action and a huge fight between new Maple Leafs signee Jake McCabe and Tyler Myers. Both men hit the ice after dropping the gloves but Myers definitely got the better of the exchange!

The fight must have inspired fans after the game as multiple fans got into a street fight on Granville street.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cpdro5BMzFy/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

The video is difficult to follow but it seems two fans get into it punching each other back and forth and they fight off camera. Another fight breaks out though as a fan spears another fan to the ground and the two start trading blows on the ground. A man comes in to break the fight up by placing his knee on one of the mens head and pulls them apart.

This is unfortunate to see and brings back 2011 playoff riot vibes. Let’s hope circumstances like these don’t continue between sports fans in the future.

As a Canucks fan I’m all for putting down some of our own to help lift this kids spirits and make his first ever hockey game unforgettable. Let’s hope George comes to another game soon!

Coquitlam Express Hire New Coach!

The Coquitlam Express have hired a new goalie coach to take their team to the next level!

The BCHL Express have taken their game to a new level already this year, currently ranking fifth in the Coastal division, and clinching a playoff spot early in the season.  However, The Express aren’t satisfied yet and have hired a new goalie coach to help evolve their game even more.

Jeff Smith joins the Express team with a plethora of knowledge and skill to give the team. Jeff is a former BCHL, NCAA, and ECHL goaltender.  Jeff played for the Powell River Knights (BCHL), St. Cloud State University (NCAA), and put in a very short stint in the ECHL.

Coquitlam Express General Manager Tali Campbell released a statement that he is happy to welcome the goalie to the team:

“We are excited to welcome Jeff to our organization. Jeff is not far removed from playing and truly understands what young goalies are going through and the support and teaching they need. Jeff will join Ron Veit our Director of Goaltending as we continue to round out our staff to support our players.”

With a more complete team the Express could be nearly unstoppable next season. While the team has a good chance at the cup this season it’ll be tough to win it as teams like Penticton and Nanimo seem unstoppable in a seven game series. However, with a more complete team it’ll be hard to stop this team of young talented players.

Let’s see what the next few years hold for the Express and new goalie coach Jeff Smith.

Fred VanVleet Charged 30K For Statement About Officials!

Toronto Raptors point guard Fred VanVleet will be fined thirty thousand dollars after the teams loss to the L.A Clippers Wednesday night.

VanVleet scored 13 points in Toronto’s 108-100 loss, which is the Raptors second loss in a row after their defeat to the Denver Nuggets Monday night. The Raptors were called for 23 fouls compared to just 18 on the Clippers, and VanVleet received his eighth technical foul of the year.

VanVleet was livid after the loss as he believes this loss and the loss on Monday night were due to bad officiating calls:

“I thought Ben Taylor was f*cking terrible tonight. I think that on most nights, you know out of the three, there’s one or two that just f*ck the game up. It’s been like that a couple of games in a row. Denver was tough, obviously. You come out tonight, competing pretty hard, and I get a bullsh*t tech that changes the whole dynamic of the game, changed the whole flow of the game.”

VanVleet isn’t wrong. In the Raptors game against the Nuggets Monday night Scotty Barnes sudden ejection changed the course of a one point game! With the Raptors team captain getting a technical foul in another close game, this time against the Clippers, it’s no wonder why VanVleet was so mad.

National Basketball League (NBA) officials didn’t seem to care if VanVleet’s statements were true or not though. Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that the league has fined VanVleet $30,000 for his comments after Wednesday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

This seems to be a common theme in the NBA this year. The referees have been making terrible calls all season and when players speak out they get in trouble. It’s a sad state of affairs and let’s hope something changes in the league soon!
