Sujit Vaidya- Popular Dance

Sujit Vaidya, who is an independent Bharatanatyam artist located in Vancouver, BC. He is an interpreter and has performed around the world like the US, India and many European countries. He is not only an interpreter and also an emerging choreographer. The dance works he created do not dance works in the traditional sense, but a kind of higher spiritual level and more ethereal dance. Bharatanatyam also called Sadira Attam and is a major form of Indian classical dance. Bharatanatyam is the oldest classical dance tradition in India. Bharatanatyam content some types of banis. Banior tradition is a term used to describe the dance technique and style. Specific to the guru, and is noted for its fixed upper torso. bent legs and knees flexed combined with spectacular footwork and sophisticated vocabulary of sign language based on gestures of hands, eyes and face muscles. Bharatanatyam remained exclusive to Hindu temples through the 19th century; however, the Indian community against it and expanded it outside the temples in the 20th century. Sujit Vaidya show will be from Thursday, October 15, 12 pm to Thursday, October 29, 1 pm and it will stream online at www.thedancecentre.ca due to COVID-19.

The Sujit Vaidya show is totally free and it will take about 40 minutes per show. If you are interested in traditional dance and Indian dance, you will definitely not want to miss this show. Do not forget to check it out on October 15. It will be worth it.
