Campus safety bulletin

Our number one priority at BCIT is to ensure the safety of our staff, students, and faculty. It is in that light that we want to share an important safety and security related incident.

The BCIT Safety, Security, and Emergency Management (SSEM) team received reports of a suspicious person on BCIT Burnaby Campus, the evening of November 2, 2022. Burnaby RCMP are now investigating. BCIT is taking this incident very seriously and is working closely to support RCMP investigators. As a precautionary measure, we have increased security presence and patrols across our Burnaby Campus.

We have extensive safety and security measures in place at all of our campuses and encourage all community members to please come forward if they see suspicious behavior on BCIT premises. These include the free BCIT Safety Wise mobile app, Safer Walk, Blue Emergency phones, in-house phones, and 24/7 security.

For urgent matters, always call 911 or SSEM at 604-451-6856. For non-urgent concerns, you can leave a voicemail on our Tip Line at 604-454-2222 or file a report through the Safety Wise app.
