BCIT announces new appointments to enhance the digital transformation experience

BCIT is excited to share that Omair Quraishi (he/him) will be joining the Institute as the new Associate Vice President, Digital Transformation and Chief Information Officer (CIO) beginning June 2024. Coinciding with this announcement, Sunny Jassal (he/him) will begin in a new role at BCIT as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), also transitioning in June.

Omair brings over 20 years of technology and managerial experience in the post-secondary and public sectors. His expertise lies in providing strategic leadership, vision, and direction for information technology and leading organizational change through innovation. Omair joins BCIT most recently from Vancouver Island University where he served as Chief Information Officer (CIO), having previously held roles with Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the Government of Saskatchewan. Omair holds a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Calgary.

Sunny has been with BCIT since 2018 and has served as the Institute’s interim CIO since December 2022. Sunny has over 20 years of experience in cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance, along with enterprise strategy development and execution. Sunny is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Carleton University and is also a BCIT alumnus, with a Bachelor of Technology in Technology Management.
