Its Glow Week at BCIT! #LETSGLOWCRAZY

This week at BCIT, the Recreation Services department is putting on a fun, four-day event for students to get out, get active and cover themselves in glow paint. Monday night was the first of 4 nights filled with glow-themed exercise. I was lucky enough to attend this event, spending 60 sweaty minutes on a spin bike! (something I really enjoy!). The spin class was held in the BCIT Recreation Activity Room. It was transformed into crazy lights, glow-in-the-dark bottles, fans, and decorations. The staff provided everyone with glow paint for their shirts and bodies while Tye (The BCIT Fitness and Wellness Coordinator) put on an intense but extremely fun spin class that had everyone cheering and sweating!

There was a second spin class held after ours to cap off the first night of #letsglowcrazy. One of the cool things about this event, and those to come this week, is they are completely free for students. It’s a fantastic excuse for BCIT students to take a quick study break, get some exercise and become involved with some different things at the school. The events are set up so that students go to website (https://www.bcit.ca/recreation/) and sign up for free. Unfortunately, tonight there were lots of people who signed up but never came. It was fortunate for the students who were on the waitlist, but not so cool for the ones who didn’t sign up at all because they thought it was full. For that reason, if you are interested in:

Glow Zumba

Yoga Rave

Glow in the Dark Dodgeball

(all coming up this week) and you didn’t make it onto the sign up list, come anyway and see if you can get in! It is definitely worth the try.

BCIT recreation has a lot to offer students. Not all schools in Canada offer free gym memberships to students, AND provide them with fun, free events! We are very lucky and I think these things should be taken advantage of!
