Every year PoCo Heritage will hold a Rhymes of Times event. This year’s event is a bit different than previous ones. It will hold via Zoom on October 5 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. This event is for everyone to share and exchange their favourite rhymes and poem. The theme of this month is “The Ghosts of Halloween Past”. They will have a different theme every month.

Culture Days Events

Fraser Valley Regional Library is ready to launch a variety of Culture Days Events for fall 2020. Fraser Valley Regional Library is the biggest public library in BC. They offer different kinds of online events three or four times per week and it is totally free. For example, Storytime and Babytime. They usually hold the event one for morning and one for the afternoon.

You can also visit their website www.fvrl.ca for an upcoming online event and not only that, you can subscribe to physical books or e-books through the website. They have various types of books to choose from. Hope everyone enjoys the reading time.

Dancing the Parenting event

Dancing the Parenting will back on this Monday from 9:30 am to 10:15 am. And it will be online only through Zoom. From this week, the event will hold on every Monday same time. This event is a great opportunity to make the relationship between parents and children closer. The event is totally free and welcomes children aged 0-5 years.

Port Coquitlam Farmers Market 2020 Is Back

The Port Coquitlam Farmers Market 2020 finally comes back on Oct 1. You can shop for a variety of fresh fruit, veggies, proteins and more. Due to the COVID-19, the customers can shop online and pick up at the Market. You can visit www.farmersandmore.org to place orders. The online store will open on Monday, Sep 28 at noon.

You can also shop in-store. The market will reopen on Thursday, Oct 1 from 3-7 pm until Oct 8. When you visit the market, please wear a mask and keep 2m social distancing.

I believe some of you have heard Sasha Sloan’s songs before. Well, I am one of you. Here is a piece of exciting news, Sasha Sloan will have a live show in Vancouver on October 3. The original name of Sasha Sloan is Alexandra Artourovna Yatchenko, she was born on March 11, 1995. She is an American singer and songwriter located in Los Angeles, California. Many of you must be a wonder why that her original name is a bit strange. Well, the reason is Sasha Sloan is a Russian American.

Sasha Sloan’s music genre is Indie pop, which combines guitar pop and with DIY ethic in opposition to the style of mainstream pop music. It is originated in the late 1970s. The famous EP of her is called “Sad Girl and Loser” which was released in April 2018. I believe many of the fans must be so excited right now. Hold on, here is more information.

A Wonderful Heavy Metal Band “Amorphis” Coming Soon in Vancouver

If you are a fan of progressive metal or melodic death metal, you will not want to miss the Amorphis performance. Well, the good news is, there will be a music event hold in Vancouver on October 2.

Amorphis is a Finnish heavy metal band in 1990. The founder of this band is Jan Rechberger, Tomi Koivusaari and Esa Holopainen. Amorphis was focused on death metal in the early years. However, they are more focused on progressive metal and folk metal. Esa Holopainen is their lead guitar; Tomi Koivusaari is rhythm guitar and backing vocals; Santeri Kallio is keyboards and Tomi Joutsen is lead vocals. Oh, do not forget Olli-Pekka Laine who is a bass. The Amorphis has 13 studio albums. This first one “The Karelian Isthmus” was released in 1992 and the latest one is “Queen of Time” which was released in 2018.

The performance of Amorphis will behold at Rickshaw Theater, which is the same place for the performance of HammerFall. The capacity of this theatre is only 500. Because of the COVID-19 social distancing regulations, the capacity will most likely less than 500. So, if you want to visit this event, you need to book the seat fast. A Swedish Heavy Metal Band HammerFall will have a live event in Vancouver Soon

HammerFall is a Swedish heavy metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. This band was established in 1993. The band was founded by ex-ceremonial Oath aka Desecrator(1989-1991) and guitarist Oscar Dronjak. The members of HammerFall right now are Oscar Dronjak; Joacim Cans; Fredrik Larsson; Pontus Norgren and David Wallin. The famous album of HammerFall is called” Glory to the Brave”, and this album was released back in 1997 to 1999.

HammerFall has won the Metal Hammer Awards in 2015. HammerFall totally released 11 studio albums; the first one is ” Glory to the Brave” released in 1997; the lastest one is “Dominion” that just released last year. For fans of rock music, HammerFall will have a music show on September 27. This show will not only HammerFall, and it will also have Beast In Black and Edge of Paradise.

Frazey Ford is a Canadian singer and also a songwriter. She was born in Vancouver, BC. The Be Good Tanyas, Which are a Canadian music group formed in 1999 in Vancouver, BC. Frazey Ford is a founding member of this music group. Frazey Ford’s music genre is Americana and Soul. Usually, the style of Americana used on folk, country, blues, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, gospel, and other external influences.

If you are an Americana or soul style fan, you will not want to miss this event on Sep.26. The last time Frazey Ford had a music event was back in 11 months ago. This show is for fans of Country and Funk and Soul.

Dylan Jones aka Crook the Kid Releasing the Lastest Music

Crook the Kid is a Yellowknife rapper, he always represents the North. This time, he released his latest single called “Too Lost”. Many music artists release single, EP or album through musical companies. However, Crook the Kid released this new song on his own. Not only that, he already bought a total of 12 songs that were previously released from the music company that represents him. The total cost of these twelve songs is $6000. That means, he can now fully control all the rights of these twelve songs.

After that, he made a very important decision; this is an unimaginable decision for most of the singers. He decided to give these twelve songs for free. Not only that, Dylan Jones wants to keep his music free in the future too. It is a common sense that music artists use their music to make profits. So, why Dylan Jones decided to give out his music for free? I think a part of the reason is the rap spirit. He explained the reason himself, “Art just going to be art”, Jones said.

This is a thought-provoking sentence. A true music artist should focus on how to make good music instead of making a lot of low-quality songs just to make profits. For this point alone, I admire Dylan Jones aka Crook the Kid. I love hip-hop music and love rappers with attitude. I hope everyone if has free time that can listen to his rap songs.
