BC Lion Player Report: Keon Hatcher

A player who once played for the NFL is now a CFL star.

Keon Hatcher is a current wide receiver for the BC Lions and has been named Player of the Week for the BC Lions for the amazing stats he put up in his most recent game, with the BC Lions by having 9 receptions, 137 receiving yards and 1 receiving touchdown. It was an amazing and well-played game he played in his last game against Montreal.

And they even won the game by a really big margin- well, not too much, but it was a really high-scoring game where the BC Lions won 48-29 against Montreal. And that game was a much-needed win.

But more facts about the BC Lions wide receiver Keon Hatcher started his career with the BC Lions in 2024 and right now has been a weapon ever since he started playing with the BC Lions. Fun fact about Keon Hatcher: he actually played in the NFL in 2018 and was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders, which, years ago it was called the Oakland Raiders back in the day, but times have changed now.

But even though Keon Hatcher’s NFL career wasn’t successful, he still was able to get a spot in the CFL and outperformed a lot of wide receivers in the CFL. Like he was able to get over 1,688 receiving yards in his 2025 year for playing with the BC Lions like for a height of 6ft 1 212 lbs and was at the age of 31 at the time making those numbers of passing yards shows he is a really important wide receiver for the BC Lions.

Keon Hatcher this years stats have been unbelievable not as good right now then last years stats but right now he 60 receptions, 949 receiving yards which he is right now from all of the receptions and yards he has made he is averaging 15.8 yards a carry which is amazing for his career in the CFL. And of course we don’t forget about this but he also has 5 receiving touchdowns.

And another fact this year he has made two attempts for throwing twice and completed both of his two passes making him have 24 passing yards towards his stats and his longest throw out of the two was 21 yards crazy right.

Just from hearing this Keon Hatcher is just one outstanding player in the CFL and will definitely be remember after all of his stats he has created and all the highlights he has made for the BC Lions.

 

Drake Maye: Under Pressure

A quarterback who made it to the playoffs in his 2nd year playing in the NFL, leading his team to a chance to win a Super Bowl, but there was a barrier that still hasn’t been broken.

Drake Maye was drafted by the New England Patriots in the 2024 draft class as the 3rd overall pick in the draft and started his career slowly and played only 13 games in his first season as a Patriot. He completed 225 passes out of 338 attempts, ending his completion percentage to nice positive 66.6% completion and during his completion of passes he was able to get over 2,276 passing yards, averaging 6.7 yards per play, with 15 passing touchdowns and sadly throwing 10 interceptions. Honestly, pretty good for a rookie quarterback.

And the year after that, he did much better in his 2025 season, where he made it to the Super Bowl, but the truth came out, and people have figured out that Drake Maye has one issue that maybe true. It is handling the pressure; you can say that the Seahawks ‘ defence was just way too strong, which is true. But you can also say it was the linemen; you shouldn’t blame the line all the time, but Drake Maye during that game had help but wasn’t able to stick the right passes and made a lot of mistakes.

But we all know that he is still young and has a ‘lot of time which right now this year of 2026 the patriots week 1 game was against the Seahawks the same team they lost too in the Superbowl and of course it happened again. The Patriots lost 13-10 which was a close game but it was also an all out defensive game.

Which to me that is why I love football and that is defensive games makes things more intense but more about Drake Maye is that.

Drake Maye struggled again with the pressure and through a possible game winner or even a force to over time which honestly is tough to witness. But it wasn’t just 1 interception it was 3 interceptions that made the patriots lose the game.

But honestly how I see it is that Drake Maye just is not ready to handle pressure right now but it will take time for Drake Maye to stop this pressure on him and make up for what he did for those mistakes. But remember those are just two games and just the beginning if the 2026 season so let’s see if Drake Maye will be ready for week 2 and don’t forget it might honestly be his confidence too.

 

 

Player injury Report: Sam Darnold

After the most defensive game we have seen and of course a rematch since last years Superbowl this game was still an amazing game to watch but it did come with some sad news.

Super bowl champion Sam Darnold was injured during week 1 of the Seattle Seahawks vs New England Patriot’s game very early. Sam Darnold was taken off the field and never came back to play for the rest of week 1 but the Seattle Seahawks did win week 1 game 13 to 10 against the Patriots but we didn’t see Sam Darnold play the full game.

And the Sam Darnold injury has came in and said that he is dealing with a very unique injury which it was a soft tissue injury to his glute and his hip joint is unaffected. Seattle Seahawks just announce his injury just today on September 14th at 6:36pm.

But the good news that was delivered from the team is that Sam Darnolds injury is that it isn’t considered a long term injury but the only bad news about this is that there is no timeline on when he can return back on the field and play during this regular season for week 2 which isn’t really the best news to hear.

There was news that when the Seahawks came back and returned to practice on Monday that Sam Darnold was not seen on the field practicing with the Seattle Seahawks team during the portion that was seen by the media that was there from ESPN.

And on that Same day on Monday of September 14th that head coach Mike Macdonald said during a radio interview that the same day that the team received really good news on Darnold is that they later added that he hoped that they would have a “really accurate picture of a plan of attack” by Monday.

But good news is that on September 16th Wednesday the head coach Mike MacDonald has been scheduled to speak with the reporters later that day and to hopefully get more intel on Sam Darnolds injury report so that people can see if there star quarterback is recovering really well.

And for what we know for who will be starting for this coming up week 2 regular season game is that the veteran Drew lock will be in the line of starting this weeks game against the Arizona Cardinals if Sam Darnold is still unstable to play for week 2 of this years regular season game.

 

 

BC Lions: Contract Extension Mathieu Betts

BC Lions made a signing that can help them with amazing defensive stops.

The BC Lions announced that national defensive lineman Mathieu Betts has signed a one year contract extension with the BC lions.

Which hearing this is amazing news because Mathieu Betts is one heck of a defensive player and for Lions to able to get a one year contract with him is very good to hear.

Which the crazy part was though in this is that Betts was actually eligible to become an free agent from the following of the 2026 campaign.

And by quote Mathieu Betts said that “I’m very excited and proud to remain a lion for the foreseeable future” and that was said by Betts on inking his new deal with the BC lions.

And the beginning of Mathieu Betts career he was drafted by the Edmonton Elks in the 2019 CFL draft and joined the lions as a free agent ahead of 2022 and he quickly became as one of the best pass rushers in 2023. The Montreal native even said that they enjoyed his breakout campaign from recording a franchise record of 18 sacks made, 44 defensive tackles, three tackles for loss and even three forced fumbles.

Like just by what I see this guy is just an insane player like I said he is such a talented defensive player.

Later in his career he even capped off the year by earning his first ever CFL Most Outstanding defensive player and he even parlayed that talent into a contract with the Detroit Lions but after his release from his training camp he went back the British Columbia and racked an outstanding 13 tackles a pair of some sacks and he also got a  pick 6 in the final seven games he played in his 2024 career in the CFL.

Betts made history on the 2025 season becoming the first ever Canadian to win the most outstanding Defensive player for the second time after leading the league in his 15 sacks and creating 42 tackles. and during his progress in the CFL he also became the first ever player in over these three decades to complete 9 sacks across a three game span like wow very very impressive.

Mathieu Betts is a one in kind Canadian player to play in the CFL I am looking forward into seeing him come with amazing defensive tackles and sack hopefully i get to see a pick 6 out of him because that would be amazing to watch.

 

 

Minnesota Vikings: The comeback after injury

The Minnesota Vikings a team that is known for some unlucky news. Well every team in the NFL always have a ‘lot of unlucky moments but sometimes those unlucky moments turn into successful moments.

The Vikings went on to go up against the Green Bay Packer on Sunday September 13th for week 1 at home and they had a really unlucky injury during the 1st half of the game which was Kyler Murray.

Kylar Murray was a starting quarterback for the Arizona cardinals but he was dropped into free agency where he got picked up by the Minnesota Vikings to be their promised starting quarterback. Which a ‘lot of people were curious on how Kylar Murray will do this current season but it didn’t end well as like I said he got injured and was sent off for the rest of the game.

And the Minnesota Vikings were down by 9-0 and the Vikings looked like they were in trouble but Carson Wentz there 2nd starter quarterback went on the field and started to change the game completely with his throwing and athletic abilities. And the Vikings looked really confident but the packers were still putting up the score and not letting the Minnesota Vikings have a chance on making a comeback.

The Minnesota Vikings kept pushing and there defense made incredible plays and even there star wide receiver Justin Jefferson making 8 receptions 92 yards and 2 touchdowns making him average 11.5 yards per carry/reception. Justin Justin Jefferson played one heck of a game and even there 2nd starter quarterback Carson Wentz while only playing for 3 quarters in this week 1 game.

Carson Wentz went for 12/19 receptions 133 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns he played an amazing game and surprised a ‘lot of Minnesota Vikings fans that day and made the place go loud after that amazing week 1 win they got.

The Minnesota Vikings have made way better comebacks then this game but after losing there starting quarterback and versing a top playoff contending team the Green Bay Packers it is still tough to come back from a 9-0 to a 22-10 and making the final score to a 39-22 crazy difference.

But after that win the Minnesota Vikings are still thinking on what there new plans are for week 2 and how they are going to play it out. Honestly from a huge game win like that can make a team very hyped up and ready for week 2 so let’s see what happens in this coming week of football.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr: Home Run Hit

Hitting home runs is a hard thing in the MLB especially when you haven’t hit a home run in 333 plate appearances on your own home stadium which is really crazy to say but that has finally changed just after one plate appearance and in one game that happened recently.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr is one of the best hitters we know in this generation of baseball through his career he was always the leading player in the Toronto Blue Jay’s for many years but this season he hasn’t been himself lately where he has only had in this current season 9 homeruns which isn’t a ‘lot if your known for hitting home runs.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr has been batting for many years with the Toronto Blue Jays since 2019-2026 he has almost completed 7 years with the Blue Jays which is a long time. And he has won many awards and even making history in the Toronto Blue Jays where he hit 150 home runs in his career at the age of 25 which is the youngest batter to ever do it in Blue Jays history.

He even won an home run derby he won a golden glove has made all star game appearances even winning all star game MVP and has won silver slugger awards he has won plenty.

But through his career for playing in rogers arena for quite some time it took him 333 plate appearances to get his first home run in home stadium rogers arena after many plate appearances. Which is a ‘lot of chances for hitting a home run in your own home stadium but during the Baltimore orioles versus the Toronto Blue Jays game on September 13th Vladimir hit his home run and made all the fans shouting and happy they made a ‘lot of Blue Jay fans happy that day.

And after all of that the Toronto Blue Jays won there game 8 to 1 against the Baltimore Orioles and making there season record even at 75-75.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr played an amazing game including with his home run it was a well played game and seeing how Vladimir Guerrero played with all his heart out and never gave up he kept pushing and hopefully we get to see more of Vladimir Guerrero magic out in the baseball field and hitting more home runs before this regular season ends.

But the main question is will Vladimir Guerrero Jr hit one more home run in rogers arena before the end of the regular season we will see.

Zeev Buium: Contract Extension with Canucks

The Canucks have been making some moves over this off season and it was a big one because they made a 8 year contract Extension for Zeev Buium a 20 year old defensemen for the Canucks defensive lineup.

Zeev Buium was drafted on 2024 as the 12th overall pick in the draft where he got picked up by the Minnesota wild just to only play one year with them.

He played a total of 41 games in the 2024 season with the Minnesota Wild scoring a 3 goals and was able to deliver over 11 assists. Which means he got 14 points in 31 games since he has played with the Minnesota Wild in the 2024 season not bad stats for a young rookie defensemen.

After the season ended and the 2025 season started on December 12th of 2025 he joined with the Vancouver Canucks after being traded from the Minnesota Wild.

And in that trade was with Marco Rossi and Liam Ohgren along with an 2026 first round pick and for an exchange it came with trading away a pro defensemen Quinn Hughes. Which was a sad day for Canucks fans.

But during the 2025 season Zeev Buium played a total of 45 games played with the Canucks but he only was able to score 3 goals and was only able to come up with 9 assist which led to a total of 12 points in his debut with the Vancouver Canucks which was 2 points less then what he got with the Minnesota Wild.

Which means for his total stat he has 6 goals 20 assists with a sum total of 26 points in his career but the.

General Manager Ryan Johnson saw potential in Zeev Buium and also saying that he brings a’ lot of Energy on the ice and showing a leadership quality which on quote he said about Zeev Buium that “You really don’t find in a ‘lot of 20 year old’s which is astonishing” Hearing these words shows a’ lot on how excited the Canucks are for extending this young man’s talent and using it on the ice for 8 years to come.

And from hearing all about Zeev Buium I think that he would be a useful player on the Canucks lineup. And for what I have seen from him and his highlights he can definitely put up some assists and maybe some more goals. But all we got to do is see what Zeev Buium is capable of in this next coming up season for the Vancouver Canucks.

Blue Jays: Fighting for Playoff Spot

Fighting for a playoff spot is hard in any sport trying to fight your way to the top without having to get kicked back at home not being able to play more.

The Toronto Blue Jays right now are trying the hardest to achieve a play off spot in this years season of 2026 after having tons of wins in there regular season record as they are 75-75 with an even record and they stay 4th in there American league division.

the last time they made it to the playoffs they were on the top and made it to the playoffs with an amazing record but this season there were a lot of expectations for the Toronto Blue Jays but now they are stuck on trying to get at least a play off spot to stay alive for there fans so that they get to see the have a chance on making it to the world series.

Throughout the season the Blue Jays playoff odds were pretty low since the Blue Jays playoff odds were slim at best in late July when the Blue Jays were 10 games down which is under the .500 mark for the standings which was there main struggle was to just make it to the .500 mark. And the Blue Jays were having tons of trouble just to get there and to even achieve that this year.

But right now the Blue Jays still have a chance to make it to the playoffs which the good things is that the league has a huge criteria that can help determine on who goes through and gets a spot if Blue Jays were able to tie with a team which is still a pretty hard thing to do.

But right now the Blue Jays are holding a tiebreaker with the Cleveland Guardian’s for a playoff spot which is a really good thing for the Toronto Blue Jays. but the problem is if the Cleveland Guardians wins the central division and Chicago falls into the wild card spot the white sox will have the tiebreaker edge against the Toronto Blue Jays.

When I see this it sounds like that Toronto Blue Jays have a ‘lot of stuff on there plate but I believe in chances and I think that the Blue Jays still have a good chance on making it into the playoffs and securing that playoff spot that they really want to achieve.
