Metric

Metric is a group of Indie and New-Wave bands founded in 1998, but almost every member of the band has other jobs, so everyone only needs to know 2 soul characters in the band. The first is the female vocalist and synthesizer. The musician, Emily Haines who occasionally plays the guitar and Emily’s boyfriend, who is also the guitarist in the group, James Shaw, is also very talented. Emily’s father is a poet, and because of his travels, Emily is a native of India. , A child who grew up in Canada, the teen Emily followed her parents’ footsteps. She also attended the famous Canadian art school Etobicoke School of the Arts (ESA). In this high school, Emily and later singer-songwriters Amy Millan and Kevin Drew group the first band.

Emily Haines later met British-born, Canadian-raised guitarist James (Jimmy) Shaw , who was also a music major, and even studied classical music at the famous Juilliard Music School for three years, but Later, James still decided to make the music he liked, so his studies were not completed. In short, the two got to know each other through some mutual friends, and then they often made music together., These are also the first two founding members of Metric

I love their fifth album, Synthetica. They used quite a few Vintage instruments to create this futuristic, synthetic and organic album. The opening song “Artificial Nocturne” is a psychedelic post-punk song from Yumei, Uplifing and then on to Motorik Beats, which is quite breathtaking. The first single “Youth Without Youth”, which talks about the crimes of youth, is driven by Gary Glitter-esque Glam Rock beats. James Shaw also sings with Vocoder. The”Speed the Collapse” on the theme of environmental protection is driven by a huge beat, how emotional, romantic and poignant this song is.
