Canada’s Gonna Be So Good at Basketball in a Few Years and It’s Not Even Funny

What else is there to say after that exorbitant title?.. Well, maybe I can explain myself.

After Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s game vs. the Los Angeles Lakers last night, I just couldn’t deny the fact that our basketball future on the international stage is going to be beyond lights out, and I’m gonna lay down the 411 for you.

Obviously, the big three, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jamal Murray, and Andrew Wiggins, pure offensive dynamos that can pack a punch in the most clutch times (just see what SGA did last night).

Pure insanity… and I haven’t even mentioned the clutch factor Murray or Wiggins bring. Before Murray’s ACL injury last year, buddy was popping off night-in-night-out. His most memorable performances came in the NBA bubble in 2020 though, after nearly single handedly pulling his team back from two 3-1 series deficits to get his Denver Nuggets’ squad to the NBA Conferance Finals. Wiggins on the other hand, was a magician with team Canada in the olympic qualifiers earlier this year, drilling a couple of threes to get his team to OT, where they sadly would fall.

Other NBA factors include the workhorse that is Dillon Brooks, up-and-coming shooting guard star RJ Barrett, the behemoth that can shoot from ridiculous range Kelly Olynyk, and Luguentz Dort.

But further down the pipeline is where things get scary…

We’ll start things off with the Univeristy of Kentucky commit, Shaedon Sharpe. The 2003 born shooting guard is projected to be a top-2 pick in the 2022 NBA draft. His offensive craft is borderline illegal, and he’s practically in a league of his own when it comes to high-school basketball.

And then one more year down the stretch, it’s the one and only Oshawa born and raised, Elijah Fisher. Born in 2004, the 6’7 small-forward has one of the highest working motors in his draft class, and he’s expected to commit to a top American institute after one more year of high school basketball in Toronto.

To say the future for Canadian basketball is bright is an understatement… it’s blinding. So grab your Ray-Bans and snag some sunscreen, cause the future of Canadian basketball is going to be torching the planet for the forseable future.
