Demon Slayer Movie: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train

Demon Slayer is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotoge. Following the popularity of the manga, Demon Slayer was serialized as an anime in 2019. Demon Slayer follows Tanjiro Kamada, a young boy who becomes a Demon Slayer after his family is massacred by a demon, and her sister ends up one herself. This anime has become one of the most popular anime in 2019 and now 2020 with its highly anticipated movie release. In October 2020, the series had circulated over 100 million copies, becoming one of the best-selling manga series of all time. 

 

At the end of the season in April 2020, it was announced that a movie would be following as a sequel. The film will be released in Japan on October 16th 2020, with an North American release set into 2021. Some information was released, stating the film was going to be rated PG-13, and run for one hour and 57 minutes. This is a long run time based on Japanese film standards, which makes the movie’s release even more exciting. 

 

Both the Japanese and English voice actors will be reprising their roles for the film. Fans are delighted to hear this, as it really gives a sense of cohesion and continuation from the anime to the film.  The movie begins immediately after the final episode, so fans who are readers of the manga have a good sense of where the movie will take you. Our antagonist Enmu has been recently freed from Muzan’s cells and is ready to attack a mysterious moving train. Tanjiro – our protagonist – comes to the rescue, but is dealt a few more cards than he anticipated.
