August 24, 2012 Two undergraduate students working for the summer at the Building Science Centre of Excellence were recipients of an Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA), funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
Fargol Moshiri, a student in the BCIT Architectural Science program, worked with BCIT Director of Building Science, Dr. Fitsum Tariku’s Canada Research Chair research program that aims to advance sustainable building design through integrated analysis of energy efficiency, indoor air quality and durability of buildings. In this project, Fargol helped developed and manufactured experimental test panels and analyse the measured data.
Not every student was from BCIT. Jordan Ho recently graduated from UBC with a degree in biomedical engineering, but also assisted with Dr. Tariku’s project. This is Jordan’s second straight summer working with Dr. Tariku and he helped with the integrated analysis of the building. Some of the equipment in this project was funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).
