BCIT Marketing students win at 2023 AMA International Collegiate Conference

Congratulations to all BCIT Marketing Management students who participated and finished in top places across multiple competition categories at the 2023 American Marketing Association (AMA) International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans.

For the third consecutive year, the BCIT Marketing Association (BCITMA) was named a Top 5 Collegiate Chapter in North America. This recognition is a testament to the outstanding accomplishment and leadership of BCIT Marketing students, including BCITMA President Kim Nguyen and Vice President Tiana Pazdirek. As well as the support and mentorship from instructors in the Marketing Management Department at the BCIT School of Business + Media.

In the AMA Collegiate Case Competition sponsored by the Wall Street Journal, Case Lead Tyler Jiang and Team members Julie Chu, Samantha Wong, Isabel Balagat, and Kelvin Tran successfully presented and secured second place for their case project. Well done to the dedicated student team who have been working on the case for the Wall Street Journal since September 2022. Special thanks to BCIT School of Business + Media faculty advisor Erica Halvorsen, and faculty members, Tom Jopling, Matt Shepherd, Amalia Fowler, Erin Whittle and Geoffrey Bird, who have generously volunteered their time in supporting students throughout this extracurricular initiative.

BCIT students also demonstrated their strength in innovating and marketing in a digital era. Eva Nguyen won second place in the Website Design Competition, while Sahar Khawar, Kim Nguyen, Eva Nguyen, Jeanin Jaydee Chung, and Tiana Pazdirek placed third place out of 100 competing schools in the Marketplace Marketing Simulation competition.

Finally, BCITMA President and Marketing student Kim Nguyen finished off the 2023 American Marketing Association International Collegiate Conference with a prestigious award as Student Marketer of the Year against over 10,000 students from various colleges and universities in North America. This sets a record for the first time that this award has been given to a student in a Canadian post-secondary school.

Congratulations everyone!
