2022 CASIS West Coast Security Conference – Nov 21 – 25

Provincial Tactical Enforcement Priority (PTEP) – Permanent Full-Time – Green Timbers

Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting enthusiastic, self-motivated candidates to provide strategic and tactical analysis support to PTEP.

Applicants will be required to write and pass the EDCAS Criminal Intelligence Analytical test
on a date to be determined.

Police Information Coordinator – Permanent Part-Time

The West Vancouver Police Department is looking to fill a Permanent Part-Time Police Information
Coordinator position to provide confidential clerical support within the Records Section.

The Police Information Coordinator position is responsible for providing clerical front-line support to the
Department and various outside Agencies by updating police file information to share within Canadian Law
Enforcement.

Basic requirements are Grade 12 supplemented with clerical/administrative experience. Previous employment in Law Enforcement, with experience in Police Records Information Management Environment (PRIME), JUSTIN and Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) databases would be considered an asset.

Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to be effective in
requesting and delivering information; be adaptable in responding to changing conditions and priorities; must be a team player with a positive attitude who collaborates with others; have the ability to deal courteously, tactfully and diplomatically with the general public as well as internal and external customers. Attention to detail to critically evaluate data and information with accuracy and perception is essential in the performance of the assigned duties.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance, including a polygraph
examination.

Position Status: WVMEA (Union) – Permanent Part-Time
Hours of Work: In Office – Rotating Schedule (Eg 2 on 3 off, 3 on 2 off)
Sat-Thurs 7:00AM – 2:00PM, Fri 9:30AM – 4:30PM

Position Summary

  • The Data Analyst / OSINT Threat Analyst is responsible for conducting social media scans and producing monthly reports of any concerning and worrisome content. Analysts are also expected to conduct scans and produce reports for clients on an as-needed basis.

  • Willingness to examine disturbing information, including but not limited to content that is graphic, violent, sexual and/or racist in nature
  • Ability to determine the reliability and/or authenticity of sources and content

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keep up to date with the latest trends in social media while maintaining a high level of proficiency in current social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, etc.)
  • Ability to extract accurate information from social media platforms and prove its relevancy, linking key subjects.
  • Monitor social media sites to identify subjects, current events, and emerging trends
  • Communicate professionally with clients providing immediate responses to client requests and producing reports with a high degree of accuracy (and without errors)
  • Work on-call shifts where clients must receive responses within 30 minutes of their request.
  • Ability to travel as work requires
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Willing to undergo a criminal record check

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in a relevant field, plus 2 to 3 years of research/analytical experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Solid knowledge and skills with related applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, content management systems, social media platforms, etc.
  • Proven communications skills with a demonstrated ability to research, analyze, plan and execute effectively and with impact
  • Extensive knowledge of social media platforms and their inner workings
  • Ability to present and convey findings clearly, particularly in regards to the explanation of complex findings to a less technical audience
  • Strong writing background and some experience with internal communications preferred

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands of typical office positions are expected. The ability to sit and perform terminal/computer work for lengthy periods is expected. Accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment

  • Office environment made up of other threat analysts, the Administrative Team, and Senior Leadership
  • Business casual attire
