Do you have exceptional communication, internet and technical skills? Our Field Investigations department is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual to contribute to the effectiveness of WorkSafeBC by participating as a team member with an experienced team responsible for fraud and claims investigations. This is a four- or eight-month opportunity. This is a hybrid position. The student will be working remotely and on-site in our Richmond office.

What you’ll do

As a co-op student, you will:
 Assist the Internet Investigator with open-source investigations
 Assist Field Investigations Officers on a variety of subjects such as fraud, misrepresentation, compliance issues, fatal and/or serious workplace accidents
 Prepare comprehensive confidential reports for internal use
 Participate in special projects such as developing an internal department website, creating resource manuals and practice directives
 Perform other related duties as assigned

Is this a good fit for you?

We’re looking for someone who can:
 Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
 Be curious, receptive to learning and willing to ask questions
 Problem-solve solutions
 Demonstrate self-motivation and an ability to work with limited supervision

Your experience and educational background:
 Currently enrolled in a forensic investigation program or have completed a course on cybercrime (SFU – CRIM 480; TRU – CRIM 4809; BCIT – FSCT 8520, FSCT 8436) or an equivalent program.
 Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office software suite (SharePoint, Excel).
