Vancouver Giants: Game Opener

The opener is one of the best games to watch especially when it’s your favourite WHL team that is playing.

The Vancouver Giants have made there game opener against the Kelowna Rockets in there home rink. and the game was so exciting for the fans everyone was getting there food and getting ready to sit down and watch some fun WHL hockey.

The game started and the players were going after the puck skating really fast trying to get to the enemies goalie. The game was a ‘lot of passing and a lot of turnovers making it really intense for the Vancouver Giants and the Kelowna Rockets.

But later in the game on the 3rd period the Vancouver giants were skating down putting the pressure on the Kelowna’s defense making them fall back and trying to keep them from scoring, the Vancouver Giants kept passing trying to find an opening.

And then they pass it to Rhys Pederson and Pederson Scores the first goal for the Giants and putting them to a 1 to 0 lead in the game opener giving the fans with huge energy.

With the 1 goal lead in the 3rd period the Kelowna Rockets came in with lots of offense trying to come back and score. But they succeed and find a goal to tie the game and not only they scored just to tie they came back fast and scored again giving them a lead of 2 to 1 against the Vancouver Giants.

But the Vancouver giants got a five minute power play with just 2 minutes left trying to tie up they found an opening and passed it to Joe Iginla and he scored the goal tying the game 2 to 2, the players went in to rush with a group hug celebration for tying the game and forcing it to overtime for the Vancouver Giants opening game.

The Vancouver Giants came back out with more energy then anything in this game and came out with speed and pressure against the Kelowna Rockets. And near the end of the Overtime period with one minute left and one minute of the game Tobias Tomik scores the winning goal in Overtime.

And the Vancouver Giants won there first game on opening day and the fans were shouting with happiness, it was one heck of a game for the Vancouver Giants.

This game really meant to the players because this gave them a ‘lot of motivation for the start of the season, And for winning an opening game for the start of the season is a huge meaning towards every sport especially for the WHL.
