Vancouver Fashion Week Is Back!

Vancouver fashion strives for inclusivity and a commitment to accurate representation. Vancouver Fashion Week showcases local, Canadian, and international designers, including emerging labels, established designers, and up-and-coming labels. Since its start in 2001, this event has built itself from the ground up and has become a celebrated event in the Canadian fashion scene. Its founder, Jamal Abdourahman, who was incredibly passionate about the fashion industry and his hometown, made it his mission to explore fashion capitals to network and connect with industry leaders to obtain Vancouver’s status on the fashion radar.

Get Ready for the Unique Styles of Featured Designers: Oct 22-27th

Hazi Haus: Lexi Chang

Lexi Chang dove into the world of textiles and garments from a young age through her father, a seasoned professional in the Taiwan textile industry since the 80s. Through this influence, Chang has had an eye for true artistry. Today, Chang has used this influence in her creations and designs, attributing to her roots and mixing her passion for textiles and her dedication initiative by using and creating sustainable and functional fashion.

Bahar Kianpour

Bahar Kianpour is a local Vancouver-based designer specializing in creating ethereal, transcendent, dreamlike, and elegant pieces that pour out a sense of blissfulness that truly transports you to a world that Somebody would find in a dream. Through her designs, it truly becomes a story, with each of the garments narrating its tale. Combinations of flowing fabrics and intricate detailing, her work is truly something to look out for this fashion week. She was rewarded the Blanche Macdonald Centre Award for Excellence, which has allowed her to show off her debut collection, and she is back for the upcoming fall Vancouver fashion week this year.

Those are just a few talented designers who will be featured in this year’s Vancouver Fashion Week. Furthermore, what I loved about reading up on the history of the event and seeing the backgrounds of the designer was that the main point that was made was the major inclusivity and true expression of art that represents the culture. Fashion is one of the best ways of self-expression, and seeing the direction these designers lead the Vancouver fashion scene towards is truly diverse and refreshing and sums up the richness of culture that Vancouver exudes.
