A place for wine and entertainment – La St-George Winery

One of the coolest wineries in Vancouver is located at the heart of Mount Pleasant at 7 E 7th Ave and its name is La St-George Winery. They have a lovely atmosphere at setting where they offer some of wines that they make on site. They make their wines in an ancient style of clay jar with hand-picked grapes that are the best in BC. They like to be called the “grape babysitters” because they believe the best tasting wines are made with the best farmed grapes and very little interference in the making process. They collect the best grapes for the job, stomp on them with their feet and ferment it with naturally occurring yeasts. Although, the foot stomping part is a turnoff for most people who find out about the process that goes behind creating wine, they are more than happy to enjoy it with a group of friends and family.

The food at the winery is market style. There is a picnic style layout to eat here. They provide a shopping cart that people can use to browse their market for items to make a custom picnic for their table. Some of the food that is featured in their supply of picnic items are tapas stuffed olives, freshly baked sourdough bed, Urban oven crackers, Spanish tinned seafood, Italian breadsticks, almonds, truffle chips, chicken liver mousse, salmon carpaccio, vegan options, chocolate and several other options.

Their unique concept is echoed in their selection of wines, food and setting. The Winery does a wonderful job of integrating entertainment to their venue. They have live music on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, where they bring in DJ’s, pianists and jazz artists to perform for the customers. They’ve even got Opera Nights on select Tuesdays. The upcoming Opera night is on February 7th. Whether you enjoy a glass of wine or a good picnic or listening to live music, La St-George Winery has got you covered!
