Tyler Colon, also referred to as Tai Verdes, is an American singer/songwriter making his name as a pop artist. You might know this guy from TikTok as a couple of his songs like “Stuck in the Middle” and “A-O-K” have gone viral. Tai Verdes is starting to expand his gratifying and catchy discography with his new album HDTV that released back in September. Tai attacked this album with sprinkles of jazz and spices of disco along with his typical R&B vocals. Kicking off the album with “Kingdom Come” which provides the trumpets that immediately catch your attention and then next thing you know the third song “Trix in the Bag” goes to a hard kicking beat with the some rap and soft vocal then he immediately switches back to R&B with some touches of jazzy trinkets in the background in “Shut Up.” I love Tai’s style of music because he shows versatility and doesn’t have one genre stapled to him. He touches on many different areas and with someone with as much talent as him, it’s important to utilize that opportunity and not take it for granted.
Tai grew up in California playing the guitar, piano, and ukulele and also played college basketball at Babson College in Massachusetts before dropping out to pursue his music career. He was working at phone store over the pandemic which helped him for his music path because he was able to carve out time to build and construct the masterpiece that’s “Stuck in the Middle”. With the song getting so much love and attention, Tai’s quoted saying the song “doesn’t just turn into a million dollars and a nice car. It turns into waiting – which I think I’ve gotten pretty good at.” Tai took advantage of the attention he was getting and gave the people another heater in “A-O-K” which has topped at 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 and getting over 24 million plays on the radio.
“A-O-K” is a song that connects to you deep down letting you know that everything is going to be okay. It’s a song that just puts a smile on my face every time I press play which I assume is the goal in every project that Tai commits to.
