David Morin at Osita

David Morin, who made his stamp in the music industry busking on the streets of Vancouver, is set to bring the people a live performance to remember. Every Colour, his self-released debut album, embodies everything the neo-soul singer has to offer. David and his band have experienced all the love when travelling the world playing their music and they look to do the same, this evening, at Osita.

David Morin

Morins soulful writing and singing style binds to many peoples liking and has the ability of changing strangers into fans. Listening to Morin’s discography, what stands out to me is the jazz centric beats that connect with his R&B style of singing. A lot of what he does reminds me of the great Micheal Buble and Jason Mraz. Go The Distance off his 2015, debut album Every Colour, provides the calm voice similar to Mraz and Buble and then comes in with the electrifying jazz drums and foot tapping beat like Buble aswell. The entire album brings this type of vibe and when in need of a relaxing tone and something to play when have a conversation with anyone this would be a great album to throw on.

His latest release, Autopilot, stands out to me because as soon as I press play it throws me a techno, space-y type of intro and creates this entirely new experience. The hard hitting, yet relaxing beat makes the rhythm of the song very interesting and unique. Morin’s voice is outstanding in this song, something is different in this song compared to his others, he fits the theme of the beat and tends to throw in a lot more riffs but doesn’t sound like he’s trying so hard. Whenever an artists tries too hard it sounds crazy and it tones me out of the song entirely. There’s just a time and place for it and a lot of artists misinterpret it, but Morin hit the nail on the head with this single and for someone just getting into him, this would be a great song to show someone who hasn’t heard of him. Morin is looking to catch the hearts of the people when he puts on a show for his hometown.
