Hedley Lead Singer Jacob Hoggard’s Sexual Assault Trial Set To Begin

Lead singer of the Vancouver-based band, Jacob Hoggard, is set to have his sexual assault trial in Toronto Court.

The trial was delayed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with his original trial being set for January 2021.

The trial is set to begin this Wednesday, May 4th.

Hoggard was not pleaded guilty in the summer of 2019, when he was trialed for sexual assualt once again. Here is Hoggard leaving the courtroom in 2019, courtesy of CityNews:

This sexual assault trial isn’t the first time Hoggard has been charged and arrested. He was arrested in 2018 for an alleged incident with a teenager and another woman. The incident occurred in 2016, around the Toronto area.

Police are starting to investigate the cases further, seeing if they can trace back this current sexual assualt case with a previous one. Police are starting to come to a conclusion that Hoggard may have had inappropriate encounters with younger fans.

Hoggard has mentioned himself (before the allegations), that he has been behaving in a way where he “objectifies women” and was “reckless and dismissive of their feelings”

The Surrey native has chosen to be judged by a jury instead of a judge.

With all this information becoming public, Hoggard’s band Hedley has been blocked by many radio stations across the world, as well as their own management removing them from their company.

Hedley has not made a single song since 2018, and it is unknown if they will ever make a song again, if they even can.

I remember listening to Hedley quite a lot as a kid. They weren’t my favourite band by any means, but I did enjoy a few songs of theirs that I heard on the radio from time to time, particularly song “Crazy For You”.

It’s really unfortunate how things turned out for the rest of the band members, as it appears they haven’t done anything similar to Hoggard. Hoggard ruined their careers, and tainted the band’s legacy. Sadly, many will not remember Hedley for their songs anymore, but for their lead singers’ inappropriate actions.
