What We Know About The Canucks New Alternate Uniforms:

In the 56 seasons the Canucks have played in the NHL, they have dawned 22 different uniforms. That number will soon turn to 23 as the NHL is set to roll the “HOMETOWN REMIX” collection. Following in the footsteps of the wildly popular Adidas Reverse Retro series in 2021 and 2023, this new leaguewide collection outfits all 32 teams in alternate uniforms designed to celebrate local culture, city heritage, and fanbase identity.

With the official league wide reveal slated for November, jersey insider updates have finally provided a clearer picture of what colourful new look we’ll be watching for at least seven games this season.

Unlike past uniform drops that took Canuck fans back in time, Vancouver’s Hometown Remix look is breaking from tradition. According to recent reports from Icethetics, the Canucks’ new sweater will feature a navy blue base, a colour palette familiar to Vancouver fans from both previous Reverse Retro iterations.

However, if you were expecting to see a style of uniform that we’ve seen past Canucks teams wear, think again. Fans expecting a revival of the classic 1915 Vancouver Millionaires maroon and white “V” or an exact return of the flying skate on a retro cut will have to set those expectations aside. Instead, Fanatics and the Canucks have opted for an entirely original, modern aesthetic tailored specifically for this collection.

This isn’t the first time the NHL has brought a creative project to each franchise. Back when Adidas was the league’s Jersey sponsor, they brought the Reverse Retro collection, meant for teams to bring back old inspired uniforms with a twist. During the 2020–21 season, the Canucks introduced their first Reverse Retro by flipping the iconic gradient alternate jersey from the late nineties, transitioning from dark blue to green down the body with the classic Orca crest. The uniforms were split amongst Canucks fans. Many liked the nostalgia the uniforms brought back to the days of the West Coast Express. Others thought that the green slowly fading into blue made it look like cans of sprite playing on ice.

Two years later for the 2022–23 campaign, the franchise honored its hockey roots with a navy blue and green homage to the 1962 Western Hockey League Canucks, bringing back the legendary Johnny Canuck rink logo onto the chest. This uniform was much less risky than the first go around. Critics said it felt very boring and bland while others thought the return of the iconic Johnny Canucks skating across the teams chest was needed.

While traditionalists may be hesitant about abandoning vintage designs, a new direction offers the Canucks a fresh visual identity for the 2026–27 campaign that hasn’t been seen in a while. Whether it becomes an instant classic or a polarizing experiment, all eyes will be on Rogers Arena when Vancouver debuts its newest threads this November.
