The Man From Mars (Maybe, I mean that’s what his name suggests)

Bruno Mars has been on a generational run. He released an album, and went on tour? That’s more in 10 years than most artists get done in like, 8 months. But I mean with the quality he puts out, can you blame him taking so long? I think I’m yet to hear a Bruno Mars song I don’t like. But I say all this because he’s coming to Vancouver in a couple weeks! For the first time in almost ten years. Which is just crazy to me, how is it possible to not go to one of the largest cities in Canada and perform music for ten years? Especially as one of the biggest music artists in the world, consistently, for all ten of those years.

But here’s what you need to know about his new album, before going to see him. I found while listening, that its got a more laidback vibe then some of his previous work. Not in the sense that he’s become Jimmy Buffet, but more of an aging pop star thing. Not that he’s super old or anything like that, but he’s been making music for a while now and it feels like its maturing. There’s still some of that infectious energy he had when he became a hit, but there’s a bunch of stuff that isn’t afraid to take its time and let the music breathe. It’s kind of like being undercover on a rainy day. Does that make any sense? Rain slows any day down, but there’s an underlying urgency when you’re only just covered by it.

Even with the slower music, I’m certain it’ll be electric in there. When one of his songs appear on my for you pages, they don’t leave. I’m still getting APT music video clips.

Anyhow, he’s playing BC place from the 14 – 21 on various days in between. So at least he’s got lots of seats available, since y’know, the next time we see him could be 2 prime ministers away, yet simultaneously, 93 snap elections away. That aside, you better hurry and get tickets if you want them, not just because the show is soon, but because currently tickets cost somewhere around 400 dollars, and they aren’t gonna get cheaper. But if you can get them, he’ll Uptown Funk you up! Well, no, he’s not gonna fight you, he’ll sing, but that didn’t work as well for the sentence I wanted to end on.
