CHOO CHOO! ALL ABOARD!

The Stanley Park Christmas Train is coming back once again, right in time for the holidays and the eventual defrosting of Mariah Carey. No worries, I don’t think her music will be played on the train.

Mayor Ken Sim announced on Monday that the beloved train attraction is returning, after tumultuous cancellations due to COVID-19 and mechanical issues plaguing it. For generations, the Christmas Train takes you across parts of the park, chugging over water and past many light statues of various holiday memorabilia. You’ll even pass by Santa’s Workshop, lit up in all of its wonderful kaleidoscopic glory. It’s probably the closest thing you’ll experience being at the North Pole, for a cheap price too!

The train is all part of Stanley Park’s Bright annual Nights event, which is also returning. This event helps support the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund and it lights up Stanley Park like never before. Mayor Sim is very excited for the return of the train, and so am I. Although it has been nearly a decade since I went on the train, it’s nonetheless amazing seeing such a beloved event and attraction come back for a new generation to experience. And especially after many cancellations, finally, the train can be remembered for years to come.

November 30 marks the beginning of the Train’s return, and you can grab tickets on Thursday, November 9 at vancouver.ca/brightnights.
