Be accepting of those who put on a maturity filter

Go on Twitch these days and you’ll find that multiple streamers have a warning saying “This broadcaster has indicated that this channel is intended for mature audiences.”

There are a few reasons why people take this route. Streamers aren’t obligated to only talk about things that are family-friendly. They are more than okay with talking about things that wouldn’t be allowed on TV. Because of this, they put on the warning so kids are at least informed about what they’re about to see. Considering the number of parents that complain about how much mature content is there, this at least gives them a little piece of mind. Think of it like a bar or casino. Sure, kids could just not do the things they’re not allowed to do like drink or gamble, but it would just be a lot easier to handle if they were never there to begin with.

Another reason is that people simply don’t want children in their space, regardless of the content matter. People already have no kids’ weddings, so why not a live stream where you just don’t want to deal with them? The age minimum is 13, but that’s not enough for some people. Besides, adults having friendships with minors that aren’t in school or the workplace is pretty strange. Like why would you interact with someone who isn’t as mature or experienced as you? Personally, I can never even be friends with people who are in high school unless I’ve already met them while I was there or if they’re a mutual friend. I just find it weird to even interact with people significantly younger than me except family.

Kids are probably still going to watch streamers that put up the warning. Streamers don’t like it when people break these rules, but they have to know it’s going to happen anyway. The most people can do is just listen to the streamer and abide by their rules.
