The Christmas season will kick into full gear by hosting Juno Award winning band, Dear Rouge, on December 10th at The Vogue!
The Vancouver based duo is coming home for their last stop apart of their tour promoting their new album Spirit, which released back on April 8th, 2022. “Spirit” is defined as “the nonphysical part of a person, regarded as their true self and capable of surviving physical death or separation.” Dear Rouge conjured up this record to explore the themes and ponderings of spirits to make listeners discover a part of themselves they haven’t felt before.
The album is a rollercoaster of feelings and emotions which I believe should be the main goal of an album. Spirit kicks off with “Facedown” which starts with a techno and immersive tone that gets you curious to what’s coming next. That kind of intro to an album is really good in my opinion because it gravitates you to wanting more. It’s one to keep you on your toes with the vintage Brittany Spears/ Kesha kicking it off, it then takes a 180 degree turn and explores a different vibe as it goes right into one of their popular songs, “Small Talk” which has a summer tone to it. It explores the anthemic aspect with “Dream Dreamer” and then slows it down and creates a vibe where you are one with the duo in “Life Goes By and I Can’t Keep Up”. Listening to “Life Goes By and I Can’t Keep Up” connected with me because I often feel behind in life when I see others the same age looking like they’re much farther ahead. It got me emotional because I always think that I’m alone with this feeling but when hearing the lyrics fit to your life, it makes me more positive within and motivates me to keep pushing.
Since finding each other prior to forming Dear Rouge in 2012, the couple has gone on to release multiple projects, climb the charts with hit singles, and grab multiple awards including their Juno Award back in 2016 winning “Breakout Group of the Year.” Dear Rouge looks to continue growing their brand and blessing the ears across the nation and the world with their unique sound and catchy tunes.
