Franz Ferdinand

Do you like listening to indie rock music?

Then you must not miss the band introduction we will bring you today.

Franz Ferdinand is a British indie rock group. Formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2001. The band is named after Archduke Ferdinand of Austria. From their debut album of the same name, they set off a retro indie rock trend in the UK and around the world.

In addition to being recognized by the Mercury Award, NME Magazine used them on the cover. The band consists of Alex Kapranos (vocals, guitar), Bob Hardy (bass guitar), Nick McCarthy (guitar, keyboards and backing vocals) and Paul Thomson (drums and backing vocals). New members for the fifth album are Dino Bardot (guitar, chords) and Julian Corrie (keyboards, synths and chords)

In addition to their musical achievements, the band is also famous for the use of portraits of the Russian avant-garde on singles and album covers. Taking the album You Could Have It So Much Better as an example, the band cites a 1924 portrait of Lilya Brik by Alexander Rodchenko.

Their new and independent style of music made their album Franz Ferdinand one of the iconic works of British rock in 2004. The album of the same name was widely praised in the United Kingdom and the United States, and also brought the band many honors: inclusion in the BBC Collective Rookie 2004, URB Magazine’s Next 100, North American rock magazine Alternative Press’ “The First Great Rock Album of 2004”, Mercury Awards 2004, “Best British Band” at the 5th Brit Awards and “Best Rock Group” and the 47th Grammy Awards for Best Rock Group.
