Canadian F1 Driver Causes Big Accident

Canadian F1 driver Lance Stroll was involved in a big accident this weekend while racing at the Circuit Of The America this past Sunday.

Stroll was defending against Spaniard Fernando Alonso who was trying to pass him on the inside of the straight. Stroll, who was trying to hold on to his best position of the season at 6th place moved to his left aggressively to cut Alonso off leading to a big accident between the two. Lance was spun around with debris flying off his car left and right. He was forced to retire his car right in the middle of the track and a safety car was deployed in the race.

Fernandos car went flying into the air with both front wheels completely off the ground. Alonsos car then hit the wall but he was still able to continue in the race and make his way back up to 7th after moving all the way to the back after his accident. This is a great testament to Alonsos skill.

However, both these drivers suffered penalties as a result of this crash. Canadas Lance Stroll was handed a 3 place grid penalty for the next race as a result of causing the collision and Fernando Alonso was given a 30 second penalty for racing with a still damaged car, sending him all the way down to 15th place. However racing with a damaged car makes his recovery that more impressive.

Both these drivers will be teammates next year at Aston Martin Racing the team owned by Lance Strolls billionaire Canadian father Lawrence Stroll. This is not the best start for their on track chemistry.
