Tottenham Hotspurs have appointed Antonio Conte as new manager

After being in charge of 17 matches, the Spurs sacked their now-ex manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

After an abysmal run of results for the team since the start of the 2021-22 campaign, including their 3-0 defeat versus Manchester United in which they failed to record a shot on target, it seemed like the team had no other choice but to.

It was unfortunate to see that even Nuno was booed by his own fans!

In total, Spurs won eight of Nuno’s 17 games as manager.

Some say that it appears a little premature for the Tottenham Hotspurs to let him go on Monday after just 17 games and exactly 4 months in the job—and replace him the very next day.

But, I guess, it is what is. If you don’t garner amazing results… then “you’re the weakest link. Goodbye!”

So, what now?

Tottenham appointed former Chelsea, Juventus, and Inter Milan coach, Antonio Conte. Apparently, he was also approached to take over the team ahead of the 2021-22 campaign before Nuno was appointed.

To refresh your mind, Conte, who is now 52, was the one who guided Chelsea to the 2016-17 Premier League title and the FA Cup, the following season. He has signed an 18-month deal with an option to extend on Tuesday.

Antonio Conte left Inter thru mutual consent in May, which is just three weeks after leading the club to a first Series A title in 11 years, adding to the three Italian league titles he claimed with Juventus between 2011 and 2014.

In his first interview since being appointed, the newly selected coach told Spurs TV, “My coaching philosophy is very simple—to play good and attractive football for our fans. To have a stable team, not up and down.”

So, honestly, I think it’s fair to assume that the Spurs might now have a better fighting chance.
