Vancouver Thrift Stores You Need to Visit

Thrift stores have been around forever, and are becoming more prevalent nowadays, since the majority of us are becoming more aware as to what really goes in to the large corporations putting out so-called “fast-fashion”. Thrift stores are the leading combatant against these conglomerates, being that the main focus of these stores is recycling. Most thrift and consignment stores carefully sift through the products that are brought to them, to ensure they put out the most quality apparel and goods, and if you look, you can find some really cool vintage pieces as well. Here are some cool thrift stores in Vancouver that you need to visit today!

1. Wildlife Thrift Store
This one’s a more obvious one, located right in the heart of Downtown Vancouver on Granville Strip. It’s a big, painted building, and if you haven’t been inside before, it’s nothing short of awesome. They’ve been in business since the late 90’s, and have a huge selection of gently used clothing (they preach the idea of recycling too). What you may not have known about them is they donate some of their proceeds to local neighbourhood charities, and are big on giving back to the community as well.

2. Still Fabulous Thrift Store
Still Fabulous Thrift Store is located in the heart of the arts-prevalent vicinity of Main Street and Commercial Drive. The name also suggests the items that are sold there—even though they have been used by someone else, they are most definitely still fabulous. This company is operated by the volunteers of the Auxiliary to BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital, and they offer a large variety of high-quality men’s women’s and even children’s clothing.

3. Miscellany Thrift and Vintage
This Thrift store not only sells gently-used clothing, but they offer gently-used clothing with an emphasis on vintage style. That’s what all the cool millennials are about these days, right? Miscellany Thrift and Vintage is located on East Broadway in the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood, and they offer everything from your everyday basics to even designer labels!

All of these stores are definitely unique, and dare I say, better options than some of the fast fashion you can find at your local malls. You’re not only going to be able to find more unique clothing, but you know that buying recycled items means they’re more ethically sourced. Definitely check out any one of these local stores, and support the community!
