Ocean Hackathon® returns October 16-18, 2026, for its 10th edition, bringing together marine science, digital innovation and entrepreneurship in a 48-hour, data-driven competition! This non-stop global challenge connects coders, researchers, and ocean enthusiasts to develop digital solutions and tools for ocean sustainability.
12 cities worldwide are hosting local editions in 2026. Ocean Networks Canada and the COAST Ocean Innovation Hub are co-hosting Canada’s only event in-person in downtown Victoria (BC). Winning teams advance to the International Grand Finale in Brest, France, on December 10.
This is a great opportunity for UVic students looking to gain hackathon project experience, network, and challenge themselves. Meals and sleeping space will be provided for participants.
