Accelerating Research in Remote Sensing

March 3, 2018 by Joe Boyd

A CFI (Canada Foundation for Innovation) application led by SFU with BCIT as a partner institution has been awarded funding for the project Multi-scale Remote Sensing: From Imaging to Immersive Communications.

Dr. Maureen Connelly, Director of the Acoustics Research Lab at the Centre for Architectural Ecology at BCIT will lead research addressing current challenges in the building sciences of acoustics. The infrastructure funding provides for the construction of a 400 m3 suite of reverberation and anechoic chambers on the BCIT Burnaby campus. Currently, similar infrastructure is only available at the National Research Council in Ottawa and at private testing labs in the US. The award is valued at $777,000, with contributions from CFI, the BC Knowledge Development Fund, and industry.

Bob Gill in the School of Energy is also participating in the project.
