BCIT opens Summit Centre: a one-stop shop for entrepreneurship

In a time of constant change and with a world of opportunity at our fingertips, startups and chasing an entrepreneurial pursuit while working a full-time job are becoming more common than ever.

To ensure job readiness and career mobility for our students, BCIT is launching the Summit Centre to offer support and programs for students to develop the skills needed to start their own ventures. This joint initiative with the BCIT Student Association further demonstrates the Institute’s commitment as a people-focused organization in strengthening support and services that promote student success, wellbeing, and resilience.

The first of its kind at BCIT, Summit Centre provides an end-to-end, one-stop shop for entrepreneurship skills and coaching. This entrepreneurship hub is comprised of two offices, two project rooms, a large classroom, a library lounge area, and the use of MediaWorks resources and services. Students will be able to utilize Summit Centre to start, grow, and scale their ventures; access resources; receive coaching and training; network and find mentorship; explore opportunities to partners with other organizations; and strengthen their education at BCIT.

“Summit Centre extends BCIT’s commitment to future-proof applied education. Entrepreneurs are not only innovative problem solvers that provide practical solutions to problems in our complex world, but they are also creators and utilizers of disruptive change as a source of innovation. Our students are our best examples of this and I look forward to the many innovative projects and entrepreneurs that will grow from Summit Centre,” said Tom Roemer, Vice President, Academic.

This joint initiative with BCIT creates a resourceful environment to empower students in further growth, innovation, and success in their future.”

BCIT hosted a celebratory party on May 1 to unveil this new entrepreneurship hub.
