BCIT appoints Dr. Justin Williams as Associate Vice President, Academic

The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Justin Williams as the Associate Vice President of Academic at BCIT – beginning April 22, 2024.

Justin will play a key role in providing leadership and strategic direction to a broad portfolio of academic programs and supports. Advising on academic planning, policy, and governance, his work will foster a continued culture of excellence in teaching and learning across BCIT. Justin will provide guidance on the visioning and planning of innovative program models, ensuring a commitment to high academic standards, financial viability, and industry relevance of all programs. He will establish strategic partnerships within the Institute by participating in committees, consultations, and key Institute engagements.

Justin joins BCIT most recently from Douglas College where he was Dean of Commerce and Business Administration. He has served in both management and instructional positions at institutes across Canada and the globe, including Niagara College, University of Calgary, Royal Roads University, and College of the North Atlantic in Qatar.

Justin holds a PhD in International Management from Charles Sturt University and an MBA from Royal Roads University. His expertise extends to global development projects and he has presented in over 20 countries with recent publications focusing on international leadership.
