BCIT named one of BC’s Top Employers for 2024

The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) has once again been recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers by Canada’s Top 100 Employers. This marks the fourteenth consecutive year in which BCIT has earned this special designation. In particular, BCIT was applauded for its prioritization and investment into a culture that values continuous growth and learning for all employees.

Prioritizing employee development at BCIT

Employee development at BCIT extends beyond training, programs, workshops, and resources that support professional skills enhancement. It encompasses a holistic approach that incorporates opportunities to help employees thrive professional and personally.

“We recognize that over the past few years, the ways in which we work, learn, and connect have changed and I’m proud that BCIT has remained committed to investing in employee development to ensure the community feels valued, supported, and engaged,” says Ana Lopez, Vice President, People, Culture, and Inclusion. “We are intent in putting our people at the core of everything we do.”

BCIT’s comprehensive approach to employee development not only transforms the workplace but also ripples into various aspects of an employee’s life. It creates a positive and lasting impact that reaches far beyond the workplace.

After 22 years at BCIT, Steve Perry, Dean of the School of Transportation, can attest to this impact.

“I can’t imagine being this energized to go to work anywhere else,” explains Steve Perry. “There is something super rewarding about working with students and helping them grow,” adds Steve. “I have had students cross the stage at Convocation and hold onto my hand and say, ‘Thank you. Your help made all the difference to me.’ That is a huge motivator.”
