BCIT stands in support of the 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities

In response to the anti-SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) protests happening across Canada today, we want to acknowledge that this event may adversely impact members of our BCIT community, particularly members of our 2S/LGBTQIA+ community, and feel disruptive to the safe and inclusive environment we are committed to creating at BCIT.

We want to reiterate the BCIT core values of inclusivity, respect, and the affirmation of gender and sexual diversity. At our core, BCIT is committed to providing a learning and working environment where students and employees are valued and respected.

We do not condone and will not tolerate any discrimination or harassment which undermines the dignity and self-esteem of our community members. No matter your sexual orientation, gender identity, or how you express yourself, you should always feel safe, respected, valued, and supported here – you belong at BCIT. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities, and we want to remind our community of the many resources and support you have access to:

Student Supports:

Staff & Faculty Supports:

Community Resources & Supports:

We encourage everyone to respond to this situation with dignity, respect, and a commitment to our values. Our strength lies in our unity and commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
