Update on Winter 2021: safe, transformational, and applied education

As students, faculty, and staff have settled into the Fall term here at BCIT, many are asking about how programs will be delivered as they continue their studies and work this Winter.

Given the recognized success of our current delivery model, coupled with rising COVID-19 case numbers in many regions and countries, we will maintain the status quo for the Winter term.

This means that the majority of our programs will be offered fully remotely, while those that require on-campus learning will be offered in a blended delivery mode.

As we transitioned some classes back to campus over the summer months and in preparation for the Fall term, many safeguards and innovations were put in place to support safe experiential and hands-on learning, wherever necessary and possible. Our faculty, staff and students are now practicing safe operating procedures in accordance with public health and safety guidelines as well as WorkSafeBC standards for post-secondary institutions.

The various learning models we now offer ensure that our students’ academic progress continues, with necessary learning supports. BCIT’s award-winning educational and IT support teams continue to work with faculty to supplement remote instruction, ensuring a valuable and transformational learning experience.

Our student services staff will continue to offer advice, care, and support as needed to optimize all student learning experiences.

Our exceptional faculty and staff remain committed to meeting both learner and industry needs through a BCIT applied education.

As always, we are grateful for ideas and pointers how we can further improve our services. Suggestions can be submitted to the School offices or the Learning & Teaching Centre.

The world is different this year, but we are still here empowering people, shaping BC, and inspiring global progress.

Thank you,
