A message from President Kathy Kinloch – BCIT continues to monitor COVID-19

BCIT and the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) continues to closely monitor and share updates about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

As of March 2, 2020, BCIT is following BC Ministry of Health recommendations and asking students, staff, faculty, and visitors that:

  • All travellers returning from Iran and Hubei Province, China self-isolate for 14 days upon their arrival in Canada.
    • Students – Anyone entering British Columbia from outside of Canada is required to complete and register a self-isolation plan.
    • Staff and instructors – if you have recently returned or will be returning shortly from Hubei Province, China or Iran, please contact Chris Hudson, Director, Employee Relations.
  • All other travellers who are returning to, or visiting, BC from outside Canada monitor themselves and their families closely for symptoms, and if any arise, to limit their contact with others and call 8-1-1.

Health Canada continues to advise that public health risk associated with the COVID-19 is low. The BC Ministry of Health has related that they continue widespread testing by screening British Columbians and travellers with symptoms and their close contacts, to identify cases of COVID-19 early.
