Coquitlam RCMP Volunteers Wanted

Coquitlam RCMP Volunteer Teams are looking for professional, reliable, hardworking applicants.

The following groups are taking on new volunteers:

  • Community Police Stations (please be sure on your application form to indicate which city you prefer to volunteer in. Please note that applicants for these groups must be at least 16 years old. We have the following stations within each city:

Coquitlam:
– Ridgeway Community Police Station – 1059 Ridgeway Ave.
– Burquitlam Community Police Station – 413-552 Clarke Rd. (close to the sky train station)

Port Coquitlam:
– Mary Hill Community Police Station – 2581 Mary Hill Rd.
– Coast Meridian Community Police Station – 3312 Coast Meridian St.

  • Citizen’s Crime Watch – Applicants MUST have a Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Speed Watch – Applicants MUST have a Class 5 Driver’s License

Duties:

  • Assist with data collection strategies, techniques and methods and provide assistance with tactical analysis.
  • Provide assistance to investigators by creating inventory lists of materials seized during searches.
  • Make scan copies of evidence to be used in court proceedings.
  • Provide assistance to investigators by using software to convert documents and evidence into readable evidence.
  • Follow the Criminal Investigations Student Learning Path to understand the key areas of an investigation.
  • Other duties

Conditions of employment:

Successful completion or partial completion of the BCIT Forensic Investigation, Crime and Intelligence Analysis Option, including the following essential courses:

  • FSCT 8432 – Approaches to Analysis and Reasoning for Crime Studies
  • FSCT 8436 – Introduction to Crime and Intelligence Analysis
  • FSCT 8430 – Tactical Analysis 1
  • FSCT 8520 – Internet for Investigation
  • FSCT 7001 – Forensic Applications of Criminal Law 1: Legal Procedures
  • FSCT 7002 – Criminal Law 2: Legal Evidence
