Job Description

Taking direction from the Police Services Supervisor and reporting to the Police Services Supervisor and RCMP Municipal Manager, the Forensic Video Technician will perform specialized technical work utilizing forensic video techniques in support of the Police Services department and the Asset Management department clients.  The incumbent will review  videos with a technical lens and process a variety of video evidence for investigative and court purposes.  The incumbent will also provide administrative support, such as answering inquiries, word processing, and preparing and maintaining various documents and files, to the staff in the Forensic Identification Section.

What we offer: The rate of pay for this Permanent Full-Time CUPE bargaining unit position is $36.57 per hour, based on a 35-hour work week.

Job Description for Administrative Positions:

  • Answers telephone and counter inquiries relating to general client services and revenue related questions. Process revenue payments for the travelling public.
  • Prepares and processes entries for casual and commercial importers.
  • Completes a series of mandatory cash controls (verifying cash floats at the beginning and end of shift and end of accounting period) and maintains the security of revenue under established cash control procedures.
  • Completes cash reconciliation procedures including balancing revenue to reports and preparing banks deposits and documents.
  • Performs and coordinates a variety of other administrative activities including maintaining and ordering of office supplies, filing, photocopying, computer generated reports and general assistance to the Management team.
  • Assist Management with scheduling related duties and verifications of hours.
  • Review and input accurate records in an automated system and maintain associated files of all District transactions
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries and time-sensitive requests from management and administrative staff
  • Initiate, coordinate and monitor transactions with supplies and vendors
  • Provision of various administrative duties in support of management: data entry, scheduling and booking meetings, managing generic email inboxes, maintaining office equipment.

Academic Level: Post-Secondary

Experience:

  • Experience in the use of various software programs such as Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook. Experience gained in an academic setting is acceptable.

Conditions of Employment

  • Travel locally as required.

2023 West Coast Security Conference

2023 West Coast Security Conference

This year the conference is focused on “Influence and Hybridity: The Evolution of Violence” and will take place November 13th-17th, 2023. The conference will feature three days of online speaker panels and two interactive workshops. It is being hosted online/ hybrid and is accredited by the University of Ottawa’s Professional Development Institute as 12 hours towards their National Security Certificate.

The Strategic Decision-making Tools Workshop on November 16th is focused on contemporary conflict and strategic decision-making. It will feature a speaker panel hosted by leading experts, followed by an introductory presentation on war games and the importance of modeling in contemporary conflict environments. Participants will then have the opportunity to engage with two war game models- see agenda attached for more details.

The Contemporary Intelligence Issues Workshop on November 17th will be our first in-person event since COVID-19 and is dedicated to professional development, intelligence best practice, and accountability within Canada’s national security enterprises. We will be hosting representatives from the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP), the Privy Council Office Community of Practice (PCO), Office of the Intelligence Commissioner (OIC), the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), and the National Security Intelligence Review Agency (NSIRA) – see agenda attached for more details.
