Canadian F1 Team Gets Three Podiums In A Row!

Canadian owned Formula One (F1) team Aston Martin looks to be on track for a phenomenal season this year.

Aston Martin was formally known as Racing Point in 2020 and the team was pretty solid. The car was fast scoring pole position and even a race win throughout the 2020 season. The team ended up finishing fourth place for the season. However, when the team changed over to Aston Martin they’re speed significantly decreased and the team dropped to seventh place for the past two years in the Constructors Championship.

The team was smart though and used those two years to invest money into their 2023 car. With the changes they’ve made to the car they’re seeing massive improvements in their overall speed, lap times, and finishing positions!

The team has scored three podiums in three races and finished in the points five out of six times (with the exception being Lance Strolls unlucky DNF).

With Fernando Alonso’s third place podium today at the Australian Grand Prix he made history for the team scoring their first ever three consecutive podium finishes. Aston Martin currently sits second in the Constructors Championship.

Let’s hope the Canadian team can keep the momentum rolling and secure solid rankings in the Drivers and Constructors Championship throughout the course of the year!

Canadian Wrestlers Win Gold!

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have a long, well documented history together dating back to their early days of professional wrestling. The two have finally completed their story (for now) though after winning the Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania!

The two first met on the local scene and became a tag team in Ring Of Honour (ROH) due to their similar Canadian up bringing. The pair were a very dominant tag team and beloved by fans. The tag team ended though when Kevin Ownes betrayed Sami leading to a one year feud between the two. The feud carried over to NXT and then eventually the WWE. Fans would chant “fight forever” when these two men would go at it. Eventually the pair went their separate ways and Sami joined the Bloodline while Owens had a successful singles career.

The pair would meet again though when the Bloodline faced off against Kevin Owens in multiple different matches. The Bloodline put Sami to the test during this feud by making Sami attack his former best friend on multiple occasions. Sami finally snapped though and betrayed the bloodline to help out Kevin Owens.

Owens returned the favour by helping Sami at the Elimination Chamber but Owens still hadn’t fully forgiven Sami.

Finally after weeks of build up the two hugged it out and challenged the Uso’s to a tag team match at WrestleMania.

The match was the main event of day one which is a huge deal for a tag team match. Everyone in attendance was on their feet for the entirety of the match and both teams delivered with fantastic back and forth spots.

Finally, after years of build up, Sami and Kevin took out the Uso’s to win the WWE Tag Team Championships. The crowd was ecstatic for the pair of Canadian brothers leaving everyone happy with night one of WrestleMania.

Time will tell if the Bloodline leader Roman Reigns meets a similar fait tonight when he faces off against the American Nightmare for night two of WrestleMania!

The Express Fall Two Games To The Chiefs

The Coquitlam Express faced off against the Chilliwack Chiefs in game two of the potential seven game playoff series last night at the Train Station. While this game may have been a home game for the Express, it was anything but a home advantage as the two teams battled it out in the stands and on the ice to advance their chances in the series.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cqgy-TGSVnH/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

The Express lost the first game to the Chiefs the night before in a game that was never really close. Final score 4-1 for the Chiefs.

The Express came out with a new eagerness in game two though as they looked to battle back and tie the series.

While the first period saw no goals, a few very important things were established; Chilliwack fans were going to be loud and proud for their team the entire night as they brought a army of fans with them to the Train Station. These teams do not like each other, and would be going back and forth with penalties and fights the entire night. Lastly, the Express needed this win and they knew it, as going down two zero in the start of a series is never ideal.

Period two kicked off with a goal from Mateo Dixon for the Express. The Chiefs battled back fast though as they scored two consecutive goals to take the lead heading into the third period.

With just four minutes left in the third period the Express needed to make something happen and they did. Tyler Kopff scored for the Express and skated right over to Chilliwack section to showboat. Regulation ended in a tie and the game went to overtime.

The Chiefs were too fast for the Express in overtime though as they quickly scored to win the game. The Chiefs fans in attendance went crazy and Express fans were extremely disappointed.

Final score 3-2 for the Chiefs.

This game was extremely important for the Express to win as they now head to Chilliwack for the next two games. They’ll be in enemy territory now, down two games so many fans are predicting last night was the last time we see this Express team play for the season.

The Express play the Chiefs April 4th on the road.

Canadian F1 Driver Finally Has Some Good Luck!

Canadian Formula One (F1) driver Lance Stroll has had a rough start to the new season. However, it seems as though Lance Strolls luck has turned around after this weekend!

Lance got injured on his bike, went into surgery, and had metal rods inserted into his wrists just a week before the first F1 race of the season in Bahrain! He then told his Aston Martin team that he couldn’t race his best because he couldn’t turn with the state of his hands during practice. However, after qualifying eighth and finishing the race sixth it seemed as though Lances season was on a upwards trajectory.

Last weekend in Saudi Arabia Lances season once again took a unexpected turn for the worst though. Lance qualified sixth and looked to be on pace for a good result during the race. At the start of the race Lance pulled off a brilliant move on Carlos Sainz to move into fifth place. Lances race success was short lived as his car failed on him causing him to come to a unexpected stop on track. Lance finished the race twentieth due to his early DNF (Did Not Finish) result.

After a crazy race in Australia today though Lance Stroll was finally given a lucky break. When Carlos Sainz crashed into Lances teammate Fernando Alonso and took a five second penalty, as well as caused the two Alpines to DNF, Lance was able to capitalize and moved into forth place!

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cqho8Yes-PL/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

It’s nice to see the only Canadian driver in F1 at the moment finally catch a break and shake off his bad luck. Let’s hope Lance can keep the momentum rolling and score some more points to keep Aston Martin in title fight contention.

The Coquitlam Express Must Win This Game!

The Coquitlam Express are headed into their second playoff match against the Chilliwack Chiefs tonight and already find themselves in a must win position.

The first game took place Friday night and saw the Chilliwack Chiefs dominate from the puck drop.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CqYoNbmhGKR/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

These two teams have a heated rivalry and things only got worse last night as ten minutes of penalties were handed out in the first period. The score remained zero-zero heading into the second period though.

The Chiefs started out the second period strong as Mateo Mrsic scored just ten seconds in to give the Chiefs the one goal lead. The Express were able to stall the Chiefs out for a brief period of time but the Chiefs scored another two goals before the period ended to give them the three goal lead heading into the final period.

Evan Brown kicked off the scoring in the third period and was finally able to get a goal for the Express. The Express were unable to build any momentum though and let in an open net goal late in the third period.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CqexlciswAP/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Final score 4-1 for the Chiefs.

While going down by one game isn’t necessarily the end of the world, the Express seemed to really struggle to get anything going against the Chiefs throughout the entirety of the game. With game two taking place tonight it’ll be hard for the Express to change the momentum and really swing the odds of this series in their favour. It’s also clear that if a team is down by two games in a row off the get-go the series is basically over. The Express must win tonight’s game if they want a chance in this series.

Will the Express be able to battle back tonight? Come down to the train station to watch the action live for yourself at 7:00pm!

Jared Revel Proves The Doubters Wrong!

Jared Revel defended his Battle Field Fight League (BFL) title March 30th against UFC veteran Jesse Taylor at the Harbour Convention Centre in a match that left fans and experts alike shocked.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CoF7-62yULZ/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Jared Revel is a 11-4 MMA fighter who has proved himself time and time again in the BFL cage. He’s beaten great fighters in the BFL cage like Micah Brakefield, Collin Hart, and most recently Drayton Agnus. The past three years Revel took some time away from BFL to compete in other promotions which unfortunately gave him a losing record of 1-2. Jared scheduled his return to BFL though and was set to face his toughest opponent to date when he stepped into the cage on March 30th.

Jesse Taylor is a UFC veteran with a 33-16 record. He’s fought the likes of Denis Kang, Luke Rockhold, David Branch and many more. He won his way into the UFC after destroying the competition in The Ultimate Fighter reality t.v show competition. Jesse is a veteran of the sport with years of experience under his belt.

While both fighters have high level skill, many fans and experts expected the veteran Jesse Taylor to win. MMA enthusiasts expected Jesses experience would play a factor in this match as he debuted nearly 6 years ahead of Jared, and has more then triple the amount of fights.

Jared proved the doubters wrong though as he went out and submitted Jesse Taylor in the very first round of the fight, retaining his championship belt and increasing his record to 12-4. It seemed as though Jesses experience actually seemed to play a part in his demise as he looked significantly slower then usual.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CqgLmyVPK7x/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

With a win like this Jared has potential to be signed by one of the bigger promotions like the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) or Bellator. Time will tell what the future holds for this superstar.

The Canucks Lose Again… Finally!

The Vancouver Canucks are finally doing what fans have been begging them to do for the past few months; lose.

At the start of the year fans were hoping that the Canucks would finally be a winning team as it was a fresh start to the season. However after the teams terrible start to the year fans quickly gave up hope and switched from wanting the team to win, to wanting them to do poorly so that they get a higher draft pick come the end of the year. This draft is significantly more important then previous years as well, as top prospect Connor Bedard is on the table and every team is looking to snatch him up.

The Canucks had a really good chance at getting the number one pick this year, but after their recent win streak, and 8-2 record in the last ten games, it’s unlikely that the team can secure the number one draft pick anymore.

However, over the course of the past few games the team has finally started to do what fans have been begging them to do.

The Canucks lost 6-5 against the Blues Tuesday night and 5-4 against the Flames Friday night. They now have a 6-2-2 record which is a little bit better then before!

Maybe the team does have a chance to get Connor Bedard after all. Let’s hope the Canucks can keep doing what they do best; losing.

The Raptors Suffer A Tough Loss

The Toronto Raptors could lose their shot at making the playoffs and play-in tournament after their tough loss to the 76ers tonight.

It’s a tight race to the playoffs in both the Eastern and Western conference right now. Every win counts for the teams currently ranked 4th-12th which is why it’s so important that the Raptors win every game they play over the course of the next few weeks. You can read about the race to the playoffs for the Raptors in this article here:

Will The Raptors Make Playoffs?

The Raptors looked to better their playoff/play-in chances in their game against the 76ers tonight. The first quarter was close with the 76ers only out scoring the Raptors by one point. The 76ers demolished the Raptors in the second quarter though scoring forty-six points to the Raptors twenty-seven. Toronto fought back in the second half out scoring the 76ers in both periods but it wasn’t enough to take home the win.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CqeaZJNuROm/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Final score 117-110 for the 76ers.

It’s crucial that the Raptors are winning every game they play over the next few weeks if they want a chance to make the play-in tournament. The team is currently ranked ninth which means they could drop out of contention with a single loss. Let’s hope the Canadian team can put together some nice wins over the next few weeks to secure their spot in the playoffs!

Canadian Wrestlers Will Look To Win Gold Tomorrow Night!

Canadian brothers Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have been involved in a long feud with the Bloodline over the course of the past few months. Kevin Ownes started out his feud with the team while trying to get his best friend Sami back on his side. Owens faced off against the Bloodline in the main event for two pay per views (PPV) in a row. Owens lost his singles match against Roman Reigns for the WWE championship but succeeded in getting Sami Zayn to turn on the team and join his side.

Sami was quick to want his best friend back after he helped Owens out, but Owens didn’t fully forgive Sami for turning on him in the first place.

However, over the past few weeks the WWE has been teasing that these two would eventually be teaming up again by having them work together in multiple different segments.

Finally, on Friday Night Smackdown two weeks ago the two reunited with a huge hug. The whole crowd erupted as the two Canadian brothers finally put their differences aside and decided to work together to take down the Bloodline.

Sami and Kevin then stood in the ring Monday night for RAW and called out the reigning, defending, undisputed Tag Team Champions, the Uso’s! The Uso’s accepted and a match was made for WrestleMania!

With WrestleMania happening in just one day now the two teams met in the ring tonight and exchanged words to build up their fight. Kevin Owens started out the trash talk when he told the Uso’s “look at me when I’m talking to you.”

https://www.instagram.com/reel/CqeSRp5pRcv/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Things just got worse from there as the Uso’s questioned Sami’s loyalty and exclaimed that tomorrow night would be their night calling it “Bloodline-Mania”.

Time will tell who wins this epic feud but one thing is for certain. It’s going to be a good one. Tune in to WrestleMania to watch Sami and Kevin take on the Uso’s!
