Fred VanVleet scores whopping 1 point!

Raptors captain Fred VanVleet scores 1 point against the 76ers in the Raptors loss.

 

“We weren’t very good as a team doing anything, and a lot of that is on me.” Said Fred VanVleet after the loss.

 

While many were quick to judge Fred VanVleet for scoring just 1 point during the Raptors recent loss, hes now listed as questionable for the Raptors next game tonight against the Atlanta Hawks due to lower back pain. Could this have been the cause for his awful performance against the 76ers? Most fans aren’t buying it and some are saying Fred is using this as an excuse for the poor performance.

Its easy to see both sides of this situation, as lower back pain could be a potential cause for a 0-11 night shooting, but as the team captain many are looking for VanVleet to transform into a player who carries the team throughout the whole season. These back issues are the same reason that VanVleet missed the second half of the last season for the Raptors.

Lets hope that whatever is going on with Fred Vanvleet gets solved fast as the Raptors will need him at his best if they hope to make the playoffs this season.

Canucks Play Game For Hockey Fights Cancer Night!

On November 1st  the Canucks face off against the New Jersey Devils at home on hockey fights cancer night.

This is a initiative supported by all 32 NHL teams in the NHL to band together and support cancer patients and their families.

 

Canucks players typically wear lavender jerseys to warm up in and tape their sticks with lavender tape as well. These jerseys are then auctioned off with all the proceeds raised being donated. Many teams do the same throughout the month of November.

 

This initiative is supported by all players, NHL members, NHL alumni, and many more. The goal of the organization is to raise money for cancer research, awareness and treatments. So far the NHL has helped raise over 15 million dollars in funds and will hope to continue that success this year.

 

If you’re going to come to a game this year make sure you attend this one as the Vancouver Canucks look to extend their WINNING streak (yes you read that right) and support a great cause at the same time!

It’s officially Halloween tonight and for the first time since Covid-19 started you can tell that buzz about Halloween is back. But if you’re reading this article your days of trick or treating are probably long gone and you’re looking for some things to do tonight. Here’s a list of the top 5 things you should do tonight for Halloween.

 

  1. Handing out candy! Just because your trick or treating days are over it doesn’t mean that their isn’t still kids looking for a treat tonight. Make sure you’re close to your door and ready to hand out candies to those eager young kids!
  2. Halloween cocktails! Are you looking to have a nice drink tonight with a partner, friend or two, or just by yourself? Halloween cocktails are a great way to stay on Halloween theme while getting a little bit tipsy (it is a Monday after all, drink responsibly). If you need some cocktail ideas checkout this article:

  3. Visit a haunted house! Once all the kids are done trick or treating for the night a haunted house is a great way to get in the halloween spirit. Haunted houses are also everywhere, just google haunted houses near you and tons will pop up in your own city!

Jake Paul Knocks Down Anderson Silva

In what some would describe a Rocky underdog story for the ages, and what most would describe as a tragedy, in the 8th and final round of their legendary boxing fight, Jake Paul knocked down arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time Anderson Silva.

When Jake Paul announced he would be fighting Anderson Silva many were shocked that Jake decided to step up and take the challenge. All Jake Pauls opponents before this fight haven’t been spectacular boxers, leading to even more controversy behind this youtube star turned boxers career. One of the best MMA fighters and strikers of all time Anderson Silva would without a doubt be Jakes toughest challenge to date and many expected him to lose.

 

In the opening rounds Silva seemed to be toying with Jake, but Jake stayed composed and won most of the earlier rounds putting him ahead on the judges scorecards. The final round was what sealed the deal though for Jake, as he landed a clean jab followed up by a hard hook that dropped Silva to the canvas. Silva was back to his feet fast but their was no question that he had been hurt.

 

Jake Paul won by Judges decision (78-73, 77-74, 78-73) defeating the legend Anderson Silva.

While this was without a doubt Jakes toughest test, many are still calling for him to take another huge step up and are unimpressed with this win as Anderson Silva is well past his prime at 47 years old.

 

What’s next for Jake? Nothing official so far but after the fight Jake called out Nate Diaz, a true combat sports legend who is still in his prime. Lets hope that fight happens next.

Daniel Ricciardo is back!

Daniel Ricciardo woke up after two years yesterday and remembered he’s one of the best drivers in the entire world.

 

Daniel Ricciardo’s past two seasons in Formula One have not been ideal for him.

The Downfall Of Daniel Ricciardo

After another poor qualifying result on Saturday fans expected more of the same from Daniel on Sunday as he started 11th on the grid. The first lap saw him drop from 11th-13th and as he went to make a move to get 11th place back he crashed into his rival. His rival was unable to continue in the race and Daniel was given a 10 second penalty to be added to his time at the end of the race.

 

Daniel Ricciardo fans once again started to lose hope for their favourite driver, but that’s when the Daniel of old decided to show up.

 

Daniel went flying past his teammate to get up to 10th place and then proceeded to overtake 3 more cars in the span of 3 laps. However, if Ricciardo couldn’t get up ten seconds in 5 laps on those cars he had just passed it would all be for not. This feat should have been near impossible, but Daniel crossed the line 11 seconds ahead of 8th place to hold on to a 7th place points finish. Daniel received the driver of the day award voted by a majority 24% of fans.

While Daniel fans are happy for this result, they have questions about where this pace was for the past two years, and will this pace continue in the last two races of the season? Many fans are also left wondering that if Daniel would have performed like this more over the past two years, would he still be on the grid for 2023?

 

For now lets celebrate Daniels best performance of the season.

The Lakers Need Help

Arguably the greatest player of all time LeBron James, NBA superstar and multiple time all star Russell WestBrook, and power forward Anthony Davis all on the same team. How could this fail?

 

In every way imaginable.

The lakers moved to 0-4 the other night making them the worst team in the west, and second worst team in the league. What’s the cause of this though? A team with that many superstars should be destined for nothing but success, especially after the duo of LeBron and Anthony proved they could win a championship ring back in 2020. Adding Russell Westbrook to this team should have led to more success but so far nothing but troubles have come out of this.

 

Russell Westbrook has actually taken most of the blame for this team failing so far from fans, as his attitude on and off the court have been awful. Westbrook refuses to partake in team huddles, has openly argued with teammates, and even said he doesn’t want to be on the team.

Its no secret that Westbrook needs to go, but the Lakers have much more problems then just that, as Westbrook was absent from last nights loss against the Denver Nuggets.

 

The real issue is that the Laker have no bench. They overspent on the 3 big superstars and now are suffering further down the rotation. As good as LeBron is, he is not a 1 man team.

 

So how do the Lakers get back on track? No ones really sure but changes have to be made, and fast if the Lakers want to win some games this season.

Why You’re Watching Sinister This Weekend

Big fan of Halloween culture and movies? This weekend is the best chance to snuggle up and watch some horror movies right before Halloween night this Monday. But what are you watching? The only right answer is Sinister. Sinister is a perfectly crafted horror movie and I’ll give you 3 reasons why to watch it this weekend.

  1. This movie is scary! So many times in my recent memory horror movies haven’t lived up to my hype, or the jump scares are all given away in the trailer. Sinister is truly a scary movie and doesn’t just rely on jump scares, but builds suspense throughout scenes to scare you, not just relying on random loud audio effects.
  2. The plot of this movie is unlike any other horror movie. Horror movies are well known for having terrible plot and use their genre to gain traction without their movie having any real motivation behind it. Sinister’s plot is well thought out with multiple story lines going on and a massive plot twist that I wont be giving away in this article!
  3. This movie is easily accessible to watch! You can watch Sinister on Netflix right now!

Taylor Swift Was The Problem This Whole Time!?

Swifties are not going to be happy about this one.

 

Taylor Swift has accumulated a fan base of largely teenage girls (and me) over the past decade as she sang songs of heartbreak, broken trust, and betrayal. However, with the release of her new album Taylor left fans shocked as she states that the whole time she was the problem! Who would have expected that?

 

Well actually most people would have expected that. You can only sing about how terrible your lovers are so many times before people start to believe that your ex lovers aren’t really the issue.

 

Regardless, for Taylor to change her whole brand and suddenly change her outlook on all her past songs was not what fans expected from her new album. Personally though, I don’t believe this will hurt Taylor at all as her new album like all her others is amazing.

Red Bull Gives You Wi…Financial Problems?

Formula 1 constructors and world champions for 2022 Red Bull Racing have been fined 7 million dollars and 10% reduction in car development time for going over the budget by 2.2 million in 2021.

Budget is a very important subject in Formula 1 as some teams are able to spend lots more then other teams are. Teams like Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes have way bigger budgets thanks to sponsors and name value then teams like Haas and Williams can.  Therefore, a budget cap is set in place to keep all the teams in somewhat similar margarines of each other.

 

However, Red Bull have gone over the budget cap last year and consequences will be dire for the sport based on the punishment. Red Bull can afford the 7 million dollar fine easily but now that teams know the punishment for over spending, they’ll be willing to overspend next year if they can afford it. Mercedes have already openly stated that they are going to overspend next year because a consequence of 7 million dollars is nothing to them in retrospect of winning a F1 world championship.

Red Bull have gotten away with just a slap on the wrist this time, what’s to stop them from doing it again in the next couple years.

 

While the governing body of F1 states that this is a final decision I believe its anything but that, and if I’m wrong and this decision is final, expect some teams to come with rockets ships and some teams to be left in the dust.

Canucks are on the board!

The Vancouver Canucks have finally won a game as they defeat the Kraken 5-4 in a back and forth gritty game.

The Canucks losing record this season has been largely in part to their inability to close in the third period, with lots of fans even saying they give up in the third. However, there we’re no signs of giving up in this game. While they struggled in the third letting in a goal with just 30 seconds remaining, the effort was certainly there even in a 6 on 4 situation.

 

With just a few seconds left on the clock Andre Burakovsky from the Kraken got off a good shot on net, but JT Miller was there to save the day, sacrificing his own ankle to block the shot. JT Miller was helped off the ice after the game with the whole team there to support him.

 

Head coach Bruce Boudreau was certainly lost for words after the win;

 

“It hasn’t set in yet; like, it was a pretty exhausting game. But the one thing I can say is the guys, they let it all out there. I mean, blocking shots. I know it’s difficult when you haven’t won, and you’ve got the lead at the end. But they certainly wanted to win it.”

 

This win marks Bruces 600th win as a NHL coach.

 

Canucks fans are certainly thrilled to get the win but improvements are still needed for this team. Lets not get to comfortable yet Vancouver.
