Team Canada Gets Some Help In The Fight Against The Bloodline

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have been involved in a long feud with the Bloodline over the course of the past year. After their win at WrestleMania fans seemed to believe that this feud was coming to an end. However, after the result of Friday Night Smackdown, it now seems the feud is just beginning.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have a long history together spanning all the way back to their Ring Of Honour (ROH) days. The pair would meet again though when the Bloodline faced off against Kevin Owens in multiple different matches. The Bloodline put Sami to the test during this feud by making Sami attack his former best friend on multiple occasions. Sami finally snapped though and betrayed the bloodline to help out Kevin Owens.

Owens returned the favour by helping Sami at the Elimination Chamber but Owens still hadn’t fully forgiven Sami.

Finally after weeks of build up the two hugged it out and challenged the Uso’s to a tag team match at WrestleMania.

The match was the main event of day one which is a huge deal for a tag team match. Everyone in attendance was on their feet for the entirety of the match and both teams delivered with fantastic back and forth spots.

Finally, after years of build up, Sami and Kevin took out the Uso’s to win the WWE Tag Team Championships. The crowd was ecstatic for the pair of Canadian brothers leaving everyone happy with night one of WrestleMania.

It seemed as though Sami and Kevin had finally closed the chapter on the Bloodline. However, Sami was scheduled for a match against Jey Uso on Friday Night Smackdown after WrestleMania. Just before the match took place, Sami was seen backstage arguing with Jey. The pair then heard screaming and Sami rushed over to see that the Bloodline had attacked Kevin Owens. The Bloodline then destroyed Sami in his match with Jey and stood triumphantly over him until Matt Riddle made his return to help Sami Zayn.

Matt Riddle and Sami Zayn then stormed to the ring on RAW to help out Kevin Ownes in his match.

This feud may have started over a year ago but it seems to just be getting really started. Time will tell what’s in store for these two teams.

The Canucks Win Again And Lose Hope At Number One Draft Pick!

The Vancouver Canucks ended their season last night when they faced off against the Arizona Coyotes. The team stayed consistent in this game and once again did what the Canucks do best; disappoint and confuse countless fans.

At the start of the year fans were hoping that the Canucks would finally be a winning team as it was a fresh start to the season. However, after the teams terrible start to the year fans quickly gave up hope and switched from wanting the team to win, to wanting them to do poorly so that they get a higher draft pick come the end of the year. This draft is significantly more important then previous years as well, as top prospect Connor Bedard is on the table and every team is looking to snatch him up.

The Canucks had a really good chance at getting the number one pick this year after their terrible start to the season. However, in the final quarter of the season the Canucks decided to go on a winning streak, and amassed a 8-2 record in ten games. Fans started to give up hope and realized this team has no real direction or purpose behind anything they do.

Then over the course of the last few games in the season the team finally started to do what fans had been begging them to do.

The team went on a four game losing streak and it finally seemed as though they realized their only goal for the rest of the season was to tank so they could get the number one draft pick.

The Canucks love to confuse fans though as the team started to win once again and closed out the season winning four of their last five games including a 5-4 win over the Coyotes to end the season.

Who knows what this team is doing anymore. Clearly they lack direction, purpose, and motivation which has most likely costed them Connor Bedard.

Let’s hope next year the Canucks can finally pull it together.

Shushma Datt Shares Her Knowledge With BCIT Students!

Popular Canadian radio and television broadcaster Shushma Datt visited the British Columbia Institute Of Technology (BCIT) on Friday to share her knowledge and insights with second year students of the Radio Arts and Entertainment program, as they prepare themselves to find a job in the industry.

Shushma Datt has worked in the media industry for fifty years. Shushma has worked for media companies like the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), The Times Of India, and now owns her own radio station called Spice Radio. During her time in the industry she has developed and enhanced her skills in interviewing, on-air reporting, storytelling, and much more.

All these skills are what second year Radio Arts and Entertainment program students hoped to develop in their time at BCIT. Now that their semester is coming to a close it was nice for them to have one more lesson from someone who’s been in the industry for so long.

Shushma started out her visit by telling stories of her experiences all the way from when she was ten years old to present day. She then opened the floor to questions and the students flooded her with inquiries for the next hour. The students wanted to know all about Shushmas time working for BBC, interviewing Jimi Hendrix, winning the Rosalie award, and difficulties she faced being the first Canadian broadcaster of South-Asian decent.

Shushma answered every single question and added in her own personal anecdotes along the way.

Shushma was a amazing guest speaker and helped guide the Radio Arts and Entertainment program students in the right direction as they head out into the industry for their practicum. The students were thankful Shushma took the time out of her day to talk to them and they shared that they would be honoured to have her back anytime.

What’s Next For Edge?

Canadian superstar Edge finally closed the Judgement Day chapter of his career last weekend at WrestleMania. What’s next for the Rated R Superstar though?

Edges feud with Finn Balor and Judgement Day reached its boiling point a few weeks ago on RAW. Edge announced that he would be accepting Austin Theory’s open challenge on RAW right after the Elimination Chamber event. Edge had just defeated the team of Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley alongside his wife Beth Phoenix.

Edge was looking to move on from that chapter of his career against Judgement Day. The feud has been a long one with Edge being the one who formed Judgement Day. The faction eventually turned on Edge though and injured him. Edge returned at the Royal Rumble event to exact his revenge leading to his match with the team at Elimination Chamber.

Facing Austin Theory for the United States Championship seemed to be the perfect opportunity for Edge to move on from this feud and work towards one more title run in his career.

Edge was on fire during his match with Theory. Austin Theory had some good moments but Edge was large and in charge for the majority of the match.

Finn Balor was not looking to move on from his feud with Edge just yet though. He interfered in the match costing Edge the title. He then proceeded to beat Edge down and went backstage to tell the camera crew “Edge thought this was over? Are you kidding? This is just the beginning!”

Edge got his revenge the following Monday night though as he speared Balor to the canvas and screamed in his face “this is not over!”

Finally a match between the two was announced for WrestleMania night two in the Hell In A Cell. The match was entertaining, bloody, and brutal with both men ending up cut and battered. Edge was finally able to pin Balor though and end the Judgement Day chapter of his career once and for all.

What’s next for Edge after this chapter though? He didn’t appear on RAW or Smackdown this week and he has nothing booked for next week either.

Fans are hoping to see Edge get one last title run before he leaves the WWE. Maybe a rematch with Austin Theory is the way to go.

Time will tell what’s next for the Rated R Superstar.

Canadian MMA Journalist Shares A Hot Take

Ariel Helwani shared his bold opinion on Israel Adesanyas performance at Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 287 last night.

Ariel Helwani is a Canadian born combat sports journalist. In his two decades of experience he’s covered promotions like UFC, Bellator, Pride, and many more. His large popularity in the sport is due to his hard hitting questions, and professionalism he brings to every interview. He is without a doubt the face of combat sports journalism.

Bottom line-Ariel knows what he’s talking about.

After Israel Adesanya knocked out his rival Alex Pereira last night Ariel took to Twitter to share his opinion on the new champion:

Fans were quick to refute that this is one of the most remarkable performances the UFC has ever seen. However, if you look at the facts Ariel isn’t wrong.

Israel has lost to Alex three times in a row, gotten brutally knocked out twice, and lost his title belt the last fight they had. This was a do or die situation for Israel and his legacy was on the line in this one.

To overcome that mental hurdle and knock Pereira out cold is truly remarkable. Seeing a moment like that is truly once in a lifetime.

Ariel proved once again why he is the face of combat sports journalism with that take.

Alana Cook Makes Her MMA Return

Alana Cook made her long awaited return to mixed martial arts (MMA) March 30th, at Battle Field Fight League (BFL)  76.

Alana is a 2-0 professional fighter out of Ascension Martial Arts in Port Coquitlam. She’s ranked #1 in Vancouvers biggest MMA promotion BFL, and #8 in the Canadian women pound for pound rankings.

Alana had a promising start to her MMA career     winning her first fight by way of submission in January of 2022. She then went on to win her second fight by decision in April of 2022.

After her fight in April though Alana had to take some time off to undergo neck surgery. It was hard for her to take the time away from the octagon:

“Having to take such a long time off fighting really taught me how to be tough mentally. Everyone thinks fighting is physical, but it also takes an incredible amount of mental, emotional, and even spiritual strength.”

Alana took her time to heal though and made her return to the Octagon March 30th, feeling better then ever:

“I feel like Im coming back as a more complete warrior because every part of me is more than ready for battle.”

Alana faced off against a tough opponent named Jackie Maclean, a 3-2 professional fighter. The fight was gritty, and back and forth! Jackie was able to control Alana on the ground in the final round though and got the unanimous decision win to improve her record to 4-2.

While Alana may have lost the fight, this is a tremendous learning experience for her and she will come back as a much more complete fighter!

Time will tell what’s next for the Alanamal. Let’s hope she returns to the cage soon!

Which Aston Martin Driver Will Come Out On Top?

Canadian owned Formula One (F1) team Aston Martin looks to be on track for a phenomenal season this year. Both drivers have produced incredible results so far and the season is just beginning. What Aston Martin driver will score more points by the end of the season though?

Aston Martin was formally known as Racing Point in 2020 and the team was pretty solid. The car was fast scoring pole position and even a race win throughout the 2020 season. The team ended up finishing fourth place for the season. However, when the team changed over to Aston Martin they’re speed significantly decreased and the team dropped to seventh place for the past two years in the Constructors Championship.

The team was smart though and used those two years to invest money into their 2023 car. With the changes they’ve made to the car they’re seeing massive improvements in their overall speed, lap times, and finishing positions!

The team has scored three podiums in three races and finished in the points five out of six times (with the exception being Lance Strolls unlucky DNF).

Fans and F1 officials are curious to see which driver on the team will finish ahead on points. F1 posted a photo asking this same question earlier today and fans were quick to engage and give their opinion.

The majority of fans were quick to voice their opinion that Alonso would win this battle. While Alonso may be ahead so far, Stroll has just been suffering from some bad luck and could make a comeback soon! Time will tell though which driver comes out on top of this title race!

Let’s hope they both do well, so the Canadian team can keep the momentum rolling and secure solid rankings in the Drivers and Constructors Championship throughout the course of the year!

Canucks- What Are They Doing?

The Vancouver Canucks faced off against the Calgary Flames and once again did what the team does best; disappointed and confused countless fans.

However, after their recent win streak, and 8-2 record in ten games fans started to give up hope and realized this team has no real direction or purpose behind anything they do.

Over the course of the past few games the team has finally started to do what fans have been begging them to do though.

The Canucks lost 6-5 against the Blues, 5-4 against the Flames, 4-1 against the Kings, and 5-2 against the Kraken. That put the team on a four game losing streak which is great news for the fans!

However, Thursday night the Canucks destroyed the Blackhawks winning 3-0. Last night the Canucks beat the Calgary Flames 3-2 to extend their win streak to two games.

Fans were once again disappointed with the team because their four game tanking streak now seems less purposeful. So is this Canucks team just sometimes really good and sometimes really bad? Are they purposefully tanking? Will they be able to secure the number one draft pick?

That’s one good thing about being a Canucks fan. They’ll always leave you on the edge of your seat with tons of questions.

The Raptors Secure Their Place As The Ninth Seed

The Toronto Raptors lost their shot at making the playoff tournament after two tough losses in a row to the Boston Celtics.

It’s a tight race to the playoffs in both the Eastern and Western conference right now. As the season comes to a close every win still counts for the teams currently ranked 4th-12th  in both conferences which is why it was so important that the Raptors win every game they played over the course of the past few days.

Before the Raptors faced off against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday and Friday they still had a chance to make the actual playoff tournament and fight out of the play-in tournament. However, after suffering two defeats in a row to the Celtics the Raptors have solidified themselves as the ninth seed and a member of the play-in tournament.

Both games against the Celtics were good showings for the team as they were able to keep the win over the number two seed within reach at all times. The Raptors just weren’t able to get the job done though and the Celtics won 97-93 and 121-102.

These losses secure the Raptors spot as the ninth seed and guarantee that the team will face the Bulls in the first round of the play-in tournament. Let’s hope the Canadian team can get past Chicago to secure their spot in the playoffs where they would have to play the Bucks.

The Raptors play Chicago Wednesday night at 4:00pm.
